Inspiration --

The idea came from the theme itself "environmentalism" first i thought to create something related to amazon rainforest but then a similar creature came to picture . i have not seen a reptile so vibrant so adaptable and versatile that not having a native specie is rarity. Thus, i thought to create an atlas of snakes.

What it does --

It is 3D Globe model built to play around and by clicking on your desired country it shows the native species of that country in a pop up.

How we built it --

The basics of website is built with React.js and Tailiwind . I used Figma jam board to collect my thoughts about the project. The source code is uploaded on github and it is deployed using vercel. To create the 3D globe libraries like globe.gl and topojson-client.

Challenges we ran into --

The main challenge that i ran into was making the 3D globe and then connecting the globe data to it . After 24 hours of trying every debugging the project finally came through.

What's next for SnakeVoyage --

The first thing i would like to improve about this is the UI. the loading is every slow and better graphics for the snake motion on the lading page . After this i would like to improve the data set because for now i have relied on google for the information but in future i would like to use a proper dataset for it. i want to make this project a snake hub for all the snake lovers out there. :)
