๐ญ Inspiration
We realized the need for an on-demand snow removal service after helping an elderly neighbor clean her steps and driveway. The idea came to us as we saw the struggle and frustration she was having due to the overwhelming amount of snow that hadn't been cleaned which was preventing her from leaving her house.
๐ฑ What it does
Our web app provides a streamlined and efficient method for addressing snow removal needs for driveways, sidewalks, steps, cars, and other areas surrounding one's property. It is particularly advantageous for people who simply just don't have time, older adults, those with disabilities, or those incapable of removing snow themselves. Additionally, it serves as a dependable alternative during instances of high demand and snow removal truck delays. The on-demand nature of our service offers convenience, adaptability, and cost-efficiency to our clients, addressing their snow removal needs in a timely manner.
๐ฏ Accomplishments that weโre proud of
In just 24 hours, we managed to build up an idea into a fully functional demo that we're extremely proud of. Despite encountering obstacles, and not being able to add every feature we wanted to, we had a blast working together as a team, we had great communication and planning skills which effectively helped us find solutions when blocked, and ultimately learned the value of teamwork.

๐ก What we learned
We learned that sleep is important, and we also learned that teamwork is extremely valuable to complete a hackathon within 24 hours. Team problem-solving and task-assigning were the reasons we were able to complete our app.
๐ฎ Whatโs next for Snowmate
In the future, we plan on improving our Web app by integrating helpful features including weather alerts, which would send notifications to users when snow is forecasted. This will help them to take action in advance and avoid getting stuck in the snow. We would also like to include customizable service options, which would offer a range of service options and the ability for users to customize their service based on their specific needs.
