Growing Wisdom Inspired by the amazing world of gardening, "Soil Mate" is a place where plant lovers can find a plethora of helpful info. Our website is all about making it easy for gardeners to learn everything they need to know, from basic plant care to fancy gardening tricks whenever and wherever they want! Additionally, it has over 1700 common gardening question and answers embedded into our AI personal assistant which is a one-stop solution for all plant owners and gardeners.

"Soil Mate" is like a digital garden where gardeners of all levels can find what they need. Whether you're looking for help finding the right kind of seeds, the weather information, figuring out what kind of soil to use, or learning about the best climate for your garden and your plants, we've got you covered!

🛠️ How We Made It

Making "Soil Mate" was a big team effort. We gathered lots of plant info, dataset, as well as made the website easy to use, and created a fun online community.
Frontend: We used React, HTML, and CSS. Backend: We used Python and Flask. With lots of hard work and teamwork, we made a special place where plant fans can hang out!

🌿 Challenges

We Overcame Making "Soil Mate" wasn't easy. Figuring out the best ways to help gardeners with things like soil and climate was tough. We had to make sure our info was right but also easy to understand and the data connected with our application was very important. Along with that, we also had to make sure that we finalized the right GenAI algorithm with the data we had.

🏆 Accomplishments

We're proud of our biggest achievement is making a website that helps gardeners all around the world. Seeing our community grow and gardens thrive because of "Soil Mate" makes us really happy.

📚 Lessons We Learned

Our journey taught us the importance of working together, learning about training the datasets, using OpenAI, and incorporating that into our website. Alongside, making sure everyone feels welcome to our website was something we focused on. We learned a lot about making a cool website and helping gardeners of all levels motivated us to create more wonderful and impactful solutions for the community, as this one.

🌻 What's Next for Soil Mate

In the future, we want to make "Soil Mate" even better. We're planning to add fun tools, give personalized tips, and create cool virtual experiences. Additionally, we would love to add image recognition feature to our AI assistant that would help gardeners click pictures and directly ask questions to our AI system and get specific personalized recommendations. Our goal is to be the go-to place for all gardening fans, bringing together plant lovers from all over the world and also educate them as much as we can, answering for all their curios questions.
