Inspiration

SpaceSky was born from a love of technology and the infinite wonders of space. Inspired by the thrill of exploring new frontiers and the power of modern web tech, this project combines cutting-edge tools to create an immersive experience that’s both educational and entertaining. It’s a playground for creativity, learning, and a little bit of cosmic magic!

What it does

SpaceSky lets you explore the universe in the coolest way possible:

🌍 Zoom into planets and learn fun facts

🎮 Play space-themed mini-games for an out-of-this-world break

📡 See real-time space data pulled straight from NASA APIs

🤖 Chat with a smart space assistant to guide your journey

📚 Dive into the Education Hub — packed with bite-sized lessons, quizzes, and interactive content to make learning about space fun and easy

✨ And enjoy a beautiful, animated, and fully interactive experience — right from your browser!

How we built it

We built SpaceSky using:

-> Next.js + React 19 for smooth performance

-> Tailwind CSS for quick and clean styling

-> Radix UI for accessible, flexible components

-> Three.js + @react-three/fiber to make the 3D space come alive

-> Cool libraries like react-hook-form and recharts And a sprinkle of magic ✨ (plus the NASA API!)

Challenges we ran into

-Making 3D scenes smooth and responsive across devices -Balancing performance and animations -Keeping the UI fun but also informative -Figuring out how to make space data actually exciting for users But hey, we powered through — and had a blast along the way!

Accomplishments that we're proud of

-> Built an immersive and fun space-themed experience

-> Integrated real-time data with sleek UI

->Created smooth 3D scenes that actually run well (not easy!)

-> Made a project that both kids and adults can enjoy

-> Learned a TON while building it 🚀

What we learned

-How to work with 3D in the browser using Three.js

-Better state management with modern React

-Styling faster and cleaner with Tailwind

-How to turn raw space data into a fun user experience And most importantly — how to turn a wild idea into a working, fun product!

What's next for SpaceSky

🎧 Add background music and space sounds

🛰️ More interactive space missions and games

🌙 Add moon phases and live satellites

🧑‍🚀 Let users create their own cosmic avatar

🌍 Make it mobile-friendly so you can explore the galaxy on the go

Basically… I want to keep making SpaceSky the coolest space playground on the internet. 🚀🪐
