In 2023/2024, 60% of adults invited to an NHS Health Check did not attend In the UK, 5.5 million adults live with undiagnosed hypertension and 850,000 live with undiagnosed Type 2 diabetes These diseases alone contribute nearly 74,000 early deaths a year in the UK. However, higher check up attendance would put even more strain on an overworked NHS. The average number of patients covered by a GP has increased 18% since 2015 to 2,293. Saliva is a powerful, non-invasive fluid rich in biomarkers that reveal key health insights, from stress to serious diseases like cancer. By harnessing saliva, we offer a painless, real-time alternative to traditional diagnostic methods.

What it does

How we built it

Footprint of Components: Biosensor array: ~4–6 mm² Microfluidics: ~2–4 mm² Bluetooth module: ~3 x 3 mm Battery/power unit: ~5 x 5 x 1 mm Microcontroller: ~2–3 mm² Total Volume: The total footprint of the components (when combined) would be approximately 8–10 mm², with a thickness of 2–3 mm. This fits comfortably within the dimensions of a molar or canine.
