Inspiration

We were inspired by the stories we've heard at "just the right moment" that have changed our perspectives. We hope to share with others the hard and yet insightful truths that have spoken to us in moments of frustration and disillusionment. Stories of struggle and perseverance have long entranced us with amazement, but stories of failure speak directly to our own insecurities in the directions of our lives and mindsets.

What it does

The user will pick from five different emotions: [from saddest to happiest] "Really Stuck," "Frustrated," "Just Cruising," "Thriving," and "I'm on Top of the World." There is a feed for each emotional state that features content particularly aimed towards that mood/emotional condition. The content takes into consideration what the user needs (ie. a story on the fact that failures are normal, startups aren't boogus, ect.)

How I built it

We used link and a lot of Googling to find ways to piece together our website. We started off with making slides that captured the essence and idea of our product. Suzanne, our teammate, drew all of the animations on her own laptop (including the background. We all worked on different areas of html/css to build our website (ie. hyperlink, fonts, aesthetics) and asked mentors at times we had no idea where to start.

Challenges I ran into

We initially wanted to create a log-in for our website so that we can personalize feeds from the individuals' data. We also wanted to use AI/Machine learning on existing mood databases to be able to detect our users' mood cycles. We then realized that they would fall into cryptosecurity and creating a database to store personal info. As a team of all beginners (only one of us has been exposed to html), we realized that working on back-end things were a bit too much for our particular idea that required lots of front-end coding.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

We (as a team) are proud of how we built off of each other's ideas and encouraged the discussion to grow. We encouraged each other by example to take the initiative to ask for help. We also dove straight into the thick of html and figured out things along the way after the html workshop. We were united on the idea and open to speak up about parts that we think will not work well within our time constraints.

What I learned

Teamwork brings energy and drive bigger than our individual efforts.

What's next for Spring

We hope to learn more about html and put more resources on our pages. We also hope to find a database that has mood cycles and learn about using data.
