Call to Action

Home staging will never truly die down because it lives up to the trendy furniture and appealing rooms' and living spaces' designs using furniture as well as home essentials!

However, the out-of-pocket cost for a real, in-person home stage and/or makeover is tremendously expensive. New, concurrent, and future homeowners do not have to worry about that for much more or longer. Generative AI, while embodying many adopted definitions and serving even more useful purposes, can be applied to staging! A lower cost, better and widespread accessibility, and creativity at its core, virtual staging is far better than other means of creating better environments for living, working, and enjoying the moment!

What it does

My build is an app that allows the user to take as many pictures of the home or any other places' spaces as they see fit to provide an NLP processing machine (Pixlr) to generate an instance of those spaces with the depicted fixtures.

How we built it

The camera integration was a means to an end in order to allow the user to always be exposed to a seamless experience, right from the app and the get-go. The camera is built upon Expo's vision camera and other React Native components like MediaLibrary too. Being able to save the image to the mobile phone's OS (either iOS or Android) was the most difficult part of this feature. Next, was the embedding of Pixlr's image generative AI machine. I used jsx, tsx, and lots of npm packages to make it happen!

Challenges we ran into

  • Experimenting with JSON Web Tokens was really hard because errors kept popping up even though they were files inside of the provided package??

  • The small community that Pixlr has meant that I needed to make do off of brief documentation

  • Browsing the web for "free" GenAI image machines was a hassle. Post signing up for one that claimed it was free I was met with a "Monthly fee, Cancel anytime."

  • On the other hand, discovering Pixlr meant limited yet ample credits for this project. It was difficult to because of its numbered users.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I'm proud that I pulled through and made something that I think tamed the fire of a passion that I had for this idea.

  • Functionality
  • Dedication Working solo was fun; I definitely had more focus

I am glad to be going back to working with teammates as they give workplace-esque experience and good memories

What we learned

Never use JWT as a novice Pixlr is a gem, although there is a high chance that its GenAI will become exceedingly more popular than it is now

What's next for stagering

This project's constituents are simple, rudimentary features (though still useful)

more is to come!
