Inspiration
We chose this overall concept due to the increased use and importance of digital communication in the ongoing pandemic and how users can still stay healthy while working at their keyboards. The website will recommend users the best distance between the screen and the user’s eyes for optimal positioning along with a video tracker with alignments to help the user properly orient themselves. We also provided resources at the bottom of the website so users can further educate themselves on the importance of good posture.
What it does
Through the use of Teachable Machine, a web-based tool that trains your computer to recognize sounds and images, Straighten Up scans the user's posture and alerts them if they begin to slouch or fall out of the good posture range
How I built it
We built it through the use of Github, which allowed us to train our cameras to recognize the movements and orient of our bodies.
Challenges I ran into
Due to the difficulty of coding the teaching machine we are extremely proud of the finished project. Because none of us had collaboratively coded in the past, learning the ins and outs of GitHub was integral in our success.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
We had to overcome the difficulties of the teaching machine and its complicated design. However, we were able to overcome it and finish the project. That is something we are extremely proud of.
What I learned
We learned so much about building websites and further developing our designing skills, along with learning a profusion of different coding resources to help us learn more about computer science.
What's next for Straighten Up
As a team, we hope Straighten Up is able to help people maintain their health while they are working at their computers, and has a positive impact on users' physical performance.
