Inspiration

As students, we have all often known the struggle with procrastination while studying for an exam. For us, this procrastination has often taken the form of playing some kind of online typing game such as TypeRacer. We therefore created a typing game which also forces you to study because the things you are typing are answers to questions that you yourself input.

What it does

StuType is an online typing/quiz game where questions fall from the top of the webpage and you have to type their answers before they get to the bottom of the webpage. You can input your own questions and answers by typing them, download them as a file to share with others, or upload a file of questions that has been shared with you.

How we built it

We built it StuType using React.

Challenges we ran into

All of us had very limited experience with web development and almost no experience with React, so just understanding how it all worked took us a lot of time.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud to have a pretty aesthetic prototype which could be expanded with many other game modes to help students all around the world study for their exams in a fun way.

What we learned

We learned React and everything that comes with it.

What's next for StuType

We hope to make StuType an online multiplayer game, so that a group of people could use it to study together while having a friendly competition. In this way it could even be used as a review tool for teachers, similarly to Kahoot. We also hope to add different game modes which emphasize different things, so that people with different styles of learning can all benefit from StuType.
