Problem Addressed

The team started by conceptualizing a problem faced in society and had come to the problem of breaking the cycle of addiction for those addicted to nicotine and drugs.

Afterwards, they put themselves in the shoes of those recovering from addiction and what challenges they may face, thinking of ideas such as their struggle to maintain relationships with people that are important in their personal lives, and insecurities in dealing with other aspects of life such as work and one’s own finances.

Knowing these issues, they thought of features that can address them separately prior to combining them into a cohesive solution. Such features include an accountability partner who is also on SubSTAND to keep the person in check so that they remain clean. Also, they decided on other features such as a progress check and information for one to learn how his/her own health is recovering since abstaining from these substances. Another feature they decided on is creating a community feature where people can share their journeys and experiences for people to empathize with, and a medical contact system in case of emergencies.

After these features were deliberated and finalized, the team started creating a low-fidelity prototype, tested the UX of the application, and worked on the high-fidelity prototype.

Intended Audience

SubSTAND is intended for recovering substance abusers for nicotine and drugs, especially for those who want to find a new job. The team wants to provide them a community where they can monitor their progress and establish a system of accountability, so that they can ensure that they are on the right track to recover, and meet their professional goals.

How Solution Was Developed

The team started by conceptualizing a problem faced in society and had come to the problem of breaking the cycle of addiction for those addicted to nicotine and drugs.

After these features were deliberated and finalized, the team started creating a low-fidelity prototype, tested the UX of the application, and worked on the high-fidelity prototype.

The Team and Their Roles

The team is composed of four members who had different roles in creating the prototype. But common responsibilities across everyone were the contribution of problems, features, or any idea used in the solution, and the creation of the low and high-fidelity prototypes.

Johanna Gambe is the project head, who has the final say in its requirements, delegated and organized the deadlines of tasks, and has even spearheaded the creation of the necessary requirements needed to complete the solution. Elijah Carreon is responsible for the voiceover used in the pitch video to advertise SubSTAND. Wacky Guevarra is in charge of the script that is to be used for the pitch for the solution, to be voiced over by Elijah. Lastly, Sophia Torres created the original assets used in the prototype, such as the logo and created the color palette used by SubSTAND.
