Inspiration

• We wanted to promote transparency by creating a platform that users can trust, and stronger mutual aid networks will form as organizations practice higher degrees of accountability.

What it does

• SYMBY’s purpose is to create a safe community for underrepresented and underserved identity groups to have an organized platform for crowdfunding. It uses blockchain to create ledgers of all aid requests/campaigns and anytime a transaction is completed, it is recorded in the ledger to provide that open transparency and fund tracking. Users are also able to upload proof of what they used funds for.

How we built it

• We brainstormed as a team to come up with the different functionality we wanted to include in our final project and spent time designing the user interface along with the mechanism for handling donations.

Challenges we ran into

• Learning how to use Wix, reading up on Twilio MFA/Velo documentation
• Becoming familiar with blockchain concepts

Accomplishments that we're proud of

• We had many accomplishments to be proud of, our proudest being the successful publication of our webpage using Wix and learning about new concepts and technologies.
• The ability to integrate blockchain technology into this helped further our understanding of what is blockchain and how it can be used beyond crypto.

What we learned

• In this project, we learned how to work together as a team to divide duties and roles to successfully present our solution. We also learned how to use Velo by Wix and how blockchain technology works. We also learned to manage our time and organization so that we can complete the project within the time limit given.

What's next for SYMBY.Tech

• Complete development work on the Twilio MFA integration for Wix, this will allow us to secure user accounts and add an additional layer of verification
• We would also integrate Twilio’s SMS features by allowing donors or other users to contact the user requesting aid about any questions or concerns they may have
• Build the remaining pages on Wix based on existing wireframes
