Inspiration

In March of 2018, students around the nation participated in a walkout, mourning the loss of 17 lives ended too soon by gun violence. Ever since then our lives have been impacted greatly as we learn that our lives are no longer certainly safe at school.

What it does

Our program aims to alert the vicinity an unauthorized person carrying a firearm.

How I built it

We built this using Python, pushSafer, MITappinventor, DragonBoard, and block programming.

Challenges I ran into

We first ran into a challenge related to soldering, then with some Android and iPhone to web communication issues. We also had issues with downloading the Android library and working with Arduino in general.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

We had so many issues and problems along the way, that at this point, we are so proud that we accomplished our goals and created a dependable product.

What I learned

We learned how to use MITappinventor, DragonBoard, push notifications, and advanced Python.

What's next for guns get gone

In the future, we hope to involve more schools, a variety of firearms, as well as GPS attached to all firearms.
