Inspiration
Connecting Arlington pet owners to local shelters to help them find their missing animals.
What it does
Takes the image of the pet uploaded by the owner and compares it with local Arlington animal shelter database for any matches.
How we built it
We used react JS, Firebase Bucket storage, and MobileNet V2.
Challenges we ran into
Properly integrating the code and connecting it with the firebase bucket storage, as well as ensuring that the correct animals were being compared to one another.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Overcoming various technical obstacles and debugging to the point that even Mark Zuckerburg would be impressed.
What we learned
How to properly create and manage a front-end and back-end framework while incorporating convolutional neural network architecture for embedded vision applications.
What's next for TailTracker
Slowly build out and incorporate a Mobile-based application and fully connect it with the rest of the animal shelters in Arlington to ensure that owners can easily see if their missing pet is inside of a shelter waiting for them.
