Purpose & Inspo:

1 book and 1 big problem. Atomic Habits & Hevy. Atomic Habits is a popular self-help book written by James Clear where he explores the benefits in building healthy habits, but also the difficulty in starting and stopping habits. James Clear mentions pillars such as "Make it easy" and "Measurable progress" which are great ways to encourage habits such as Journaling, Reading, Fitness, and more. Moreover, in the current landscape of digital wellness, there are many barriers to entry including cost, privacy, simplicity, and unclear direct benefits. Thus, the team's purpose was to build tool as simple as it is effective to help others not just start their journey but maintain it with aspects to "Make it easy" or satisfying to both Journal and complete personal goals.

Talkbook is all about promoting mental and physical wellness by providing a safe and accessible digital safe-space to encourage Journaling and active habit building, whether that means exercise, finally cleaning your room, studying, or putting down bad habits. Talkbook gives you to tools to do all that and more at your pace, space. and privacy.

Cultural/Psychological Impact:

The project promotes mental and physical wellness by providing both a private and safe digital space as an outlet to express, reflect, and build habits. Powered with features to support accessibility and ease-of-use with a system to encourage progression in the habits and goals various users may have. We also understand accessibility is a major hurdle, thus we built this application to run locally, having our NLP system light-weight, allowing users to use our application without having to rely on fast network speeds or online server access (Users will need to download or obtain a local copy of the application first) while still maintaining all the functionality and privacy intended.

Moreover, the team believes there are a lot of risks associated with promises of improving mental well-being and health with the use of A.I chat bots or unclear approaches and results without the proper due diligence and maintenance to prevent unintended results. Thus, we built something a clear and open tool for users with simple directives in mind and non-backend reliant features, with accessibility in mind for low-income households, regions, or rural areas.
