Inspiration

One of our group members was interested in Tamagotchi, which were little virtual pets from the 90s

What it does

This game lets you take care of your very own Reveille, you must feed her and give her water, to make sure that she stays safe and happy. Her food and water will slowly decrease and if they hit zero Rev will be sad, and start to lose health. You must feed her and give her water by clicking keys A, T, M, and B. A gives food, T gives pets and when Rev is at high enough food and water, it restores health, M gives water, and B changes the background. If Rev reaches reaches zero health the game will be over.

How we built it

We used pygame in order to create python code that played a game, we also created 60+ sprites for use in the game.

Challenges we ran into

We weren't entirely sure how to make the game. Originally, we tried unity and HTML, but we weren't sure how to use unity and with HTML we could not get the python file to interact with it, so we decided to make it into a pygame after some help from a mentor.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • We are proud that all our efforts worked out in the end, while there were definitely some ups and downs we made it through.
  • We got a real time problem fixed, as whenever you had fed Rev time in the game, time would stop, but we luckily fixed it.
  • We are also very proud of how great all our sprites came out.

What we learned

We have learned the basics on a great many different coding software's. One of our members even learned pixel art, but the most important thing we learned is the importance of proper planning prior to actual coding.

What's next for TAMUgotchi

A sequel might be in the works, if we win.
