Inspiration

The book Hatchet and the game Muck both influenced the creation of this game.

What it does

This is a 3d first person game. Your goal is to make it off the island you have been stranded on. There are evil mobs trying to kill you and you have to gather resources to build a raft and escape.

How we built it

We used Unity and Blender for this. All of the 3d models were made entirely by us in Blender and Unity, and we didn't use any models from the internet.

Challenges we ran into

One challenge we ran into was over scoping. Initially, we had a big idea but it turned out to not be reasonable amount to complete in a short period of time, so we had to cut back on some things.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Out of our 3 members, 24 hours ago, one of our members had zero Unity knowledge, and one of our members had zero Blender knowledge. For me (Kai), I had a decent amount of Unity knowledge but I hadn't done much Unity in the past few months. We all learned a ton from this experience. Also, me (Kai) and Lukas are both middle schoolers so we don't have a lot of experience.

What we learned

We all learned a lot about Unity, Blender, working together on projects, how hackathons work, and more! It was a very valuable experience.

What's next for Termination Island

We might continue to polish it up or extend the game.
