Inspiration
When we all got accepted to BrickHack7, we really wanted to work on a project with AR/VR but didn't know exactly what to do. One of our teammates had a great idea about a game dealing with impersonation like in Mission Impossible. After much discussion, we decided on making a game based on identity theft where the player would step into someone else shoes for a day.
What it does
Theft Me is a game where you have to live your life as the person whose identity you stole, based upon the hints, clues, and belongings that will be given to the user throughout the game. The player must impersonate them at work and undergo a boss level where they must have a conversation, making sure to respond as naturally as the real person would.
How we built it
Unity | C# | Steam VR | Photoshop | Adobe Illustrator | Blender | VS Code
Challenges we ran into
We all programmed this game in remote locations with only one set of VR. Because of this limitation, we had a hard time making sure that all inputs would work for both VR and mouse/keyboard while testing throughout the whole development phase.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are very proud that we were able to complete a working project with all assets, scenes, and environments. We all worked together to complete each task as they came along, and we are really proud of our communication throughout the project.
What we learned
For some of our team members, it was the very first time developing AR/VR so everything was a learning experience that was very welcomed. As a whole, we learned great project management and communication skills.
What's next for Theft Me
We plan on the expansion of Theft Me. We want to incorporate multiple characters, as well as implement a system for level-difficulty to make the game even more challenging and enjoyable.
