What it does

The ThinkGreen website prototype is an informational resource site with built in calculators to track your global COVID-19 waste impact. Ideally, ThinkGreen could include other calculators that would track plastic waste, and carbon emissions.

How We built it

We at Think Green have created a prototype of the website that we think works for a better tomorrow. We have created a fantastic and easy to use UI to encourage others to volunteer and raise awareness of the harmful effects of climate change.

We chose an analogous set of colors that includes shades of green, brown, and a very light shade of yellow. Our palette can be found here

All images follow the same color theme and art-style. They incorporate the color palette above and are all vector art.

Finally, our layouts were done to highlight our message more than our image. Our landing page has a much more flashy use of images to capture our audience's attention. Our tracking page have very simple images to contrast with the big blocks of texts that we want our audience to pay heed to.

Most of the vector art was hand-made through Gavit Designer. (with the exception of the sanitizer and the social media icons)

What We learned

By investing our weekend in the HackTAMS hackathon, we learned more about climate change, and more specifically how it relates to Covid-19. We implemented shocking findings and research on our site.

Our team, having such varying cultures, learned about different cultures around the world. Since we also had three different time zones, we had to make sure we were responsible and managing our time correctly. For most of us, this is also our first hackathon. Nonetheless, we exercised good teamwork, where each of us would work in shifts. We would also communicate with others in the team about our ideas and changes in the prototype.

What's next for Think Green

Team ThinkGreen is eagerly waiting for the next season of HackTAMS to demonstrate new ideas and projects and present it in the next round of HackTAMS. Due to time constraints, we were not able to sketch each and every idea of the team members but in the future, HackTams would like to expand its horizon from reducing plastic change during COVID to changing specific habits of individuals. We plan to work on calculating the amount of water people misuse, the trees they indirectly cut, and the carbon emission that they leave and the aquatic life they disturb.
