Inspiration
Every year, millions of tonnes of clothing get discarded in landfills, polluting our natural environment. There is a growing trend of environmentally conscious shoppers in Canada who turn to vintage, second-hand stores to find pre-used clothing items and hidden gems unique from the cookie-cutter styles offered in fast fashion. However, vintage thrift stores are far and few in between, and given the uniqueness of items they sell, many choose to not upload their clothing catalogue online, which makes it difficult for consumers like us to find pieces that we like.
What it does
Our mobile application provides users with the opportunity to shop from a range of second-hand clothing stores, catered to their fashion taste through our app’s customization feature. It allows buyers from different cities to get clothing shipped to them if they do not live in the city that holds the desired item.
How we built it
We used Figma for the UI prototype
Challenges we ran into
Implementing the app in Android Studio
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're most proud of learning Figma to create our prototype.
What we learned
We learned how to create a prototype in Figma, and started learning how to implement the app in Android Studio using Google Vision AI for our customization feature.
What's next for Thriftly
We intend to implement Google Vision AI as our next step.
