Inspiration

Motivating people that hardly ever update their tickets to do it more frequently, and rewarding people that keeps the board up to date.

We thought it was very funny to use some of the typical phrases in projects like "how are we doing on this one?", or "we needed it for yesterday".

What it does

Generates the platform levels based on your work on the Jira board. For example, if you close your tickets on time and keep them updated, you will see many stars and few obstacles.

If you have outstanding tickets or blocking issues, you will see more enemies, obstacles, and holes in the map.

How we built it

We used kaboomjs, which is a javascript engine to create games. We then integrated the games into the Jira Project Page using APIs.

Challenges we ran into

We wanted to create something unique, but also functional and technically interesting. However, we wanted to keep the focus on the project/tickets and not to have a game as a sort of separate thing.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Creating a game for the first time, and participating one more time in a hackathon is something that makes me proud.

What we learned

Internet now makes everything possible. Creating a game with zero knowledge, mixing real and virtual life, thinking outside the box, turning work in a game is possible, and this is just the beginning.

What's next for Ticket Adventures

Would be nice to have resources to explore the idea of "gamefication" of Jira into a more deep concept but following the same principle: the more you do, the more rewarded you are. We brainstormed a lot of crazy things that would not be possible in the short timespan we had to develop this.

Thanks for the oportunity, and if you see this:

THANK YOU!, all you guys told me "GO" and helped me one way or another when I commented you about this hackathon.
