Inspiration
We formed a team within the online developer community named Virtual Coffee. We have some work sessions with Pomodoro techniques to improve our productivity. We wanted to build something we could use for those sessions.
What it does
The application keeps track of the user's status break and work for each task, and also visualizes the data for them to see how much they work at one glance. Additionally, users can see other users' working hours by the plot.
How we built it
We had a meeting on what kind of applications and technologies we should use for this Hackathon at first. After sharing the general idea with a team, we made a starter repository with basic features and took an open-source project approach to improve the application features and design.
Challenges we ran into
Nobody in our team had experience with Taipy and Kintone, so we struggled with new technologies but helped each other to build this application.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud that we built something new for Taipy Library. We haven't seen anyone making a tracking application with Taipy yet. All the more, this application can be useful for our community.
What we learned
We learned how to work in a team. Every team member has a different schedule and capability, so the asynchronous development approach works fine for this month-long Hackathon.
Team members learned two new technologies and are willing to create another application with those technologies. Our team enjoyed "learn by doing" throughout this Hackathon.
What's next for Time Tracking Application
We used the basic features of Taipy and Kintone, we want to explore their documentation and implement more complicated features in the future like utilizing authentication and displaying the history of the user's activity and so on.
Built With
- kintone
- python
- taipy
