Inspiration
A city needs police officers to stop crime, but sometimes. there are not enough police officers to help. This was my inspiration.
What it does
Townometer can keep track of the number of police officers in a city, and based on crime rates, it can give advice on how many more police officers to hire.
How I built it
I used HTML, CSS, and JS to create the front end. I used flask, a python backend framework, for the backend of the website.
Challenges we ran into
One challenge I ran into was the constant API connection errors.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I am proud of this code since it can help solve a current problem: crime. With the correct number of police officers, crime can be prevented.
What's next for Townometer
After this hackathon, I plan to improve the website a bit; probably host this website on a real server and send it to my city council on citizens day (a day when people of our city can propose ideas to the city hall.)
