Inspiration

We were inspired by Instagram's text messaging and their UI

What it does

We group users based on their mustic states into chat rooms, where they can chat with one another

How we built it

We used websockets for real time communication, usign MongoDB to store user and message data and React/Next.js for frontend UI and routing.

Challenges we ran into

Git issues, API endpoints not working, frontend rendering issues

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Some of us are working with websockets for the first time, while others are usign Next.js for the first time, so it took some time in getting used to the syntax for the backend controll;ers and the Next.js frontend routing.

What we learned

We learned how to use Next.js and Websockets

What's next for TuneChat

Allowing a recommendation feed for users to view other users "favourite songs", and adding friends.
