Inspiration

The inspiration behind UnityCause stems from a shared passion for fostering community engagement and social impact. We observed a growing disconnect between businesses and their local communities, with limited opportunities for meaningful collaboration and support. Inspired by the potential of technology to facilitate connections, we set out to create a platform that leverages SquareUp's capabilities to empower businesses to give back and strengthen community bonds.

What it does

UnityCause is a platform that enables businesses to seamlessly integrate charitable giving into their everyday transactions using SquareUp. Businesses can select causes they're passionate about, and customers have the option to contribute to these causes during checkout (On POS). The platform also features a dashboard for businesses to track donations, a community leaderboard to showcase top contributors, and transparent reporting to foster accountability and trust. It also charges the business based on donations received in their account every midnight.

How we built it

UnityCause was created using Bubble.io, a powerful no-code development platform that allows for rapid prototyping and deployment of web applications. Leveraging Bubble.io's intuitive visual interface and extensive plugin ecosystem, we were able to design and build the entire platform without writing a single line of code. We utilized Bubble.io's built-in database functionality to manage user data, donation records, and transaction history securely. Additionally, we integrated SquareUp's APIs seamlessly into the platform using Bubble.io's API connector feature, enabling secure transactions and donation processing. By harnessing the power of no-code development with Bubble.io, we were able to bring our vision for UnityCause to life quickly and efficiently, without the need for extensive coding expertise.

Challenges we ran into

Major challenges are related to thinking approach I have to iterate the product very frequently to align the need. Also no availability of POS device in India made me explore the virtual terminal. Then integrating the Credit Card on bubble was the major challenge but we did it somehow.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud to have created a platform that empowers businesses to make a positive impact in their communities while fostering meaningful connections with customers. Our accomplishments include developing a user-friendly platform with seamless integration of SquareUp's APIs, implementing transparent reporting features to build trust and accountability, and fostering a sense of community through a leaderboard highlighting top contributors. I am very serious to take this live and enablement of the features for the SquareUp's customers.

What we learned

For me the experience is very wholesome, I thought it will not get completed although it's a very basic product and MVP for proof of concept, but somehow perseverance will prevailed.

What's next for UnityCause

Looking ahead, we envision expanding UnityCause to reach more businesses and communities worldwide. We plan to enhance the platform with additional features such as automated donation matching, customizable fundraising campaigns, and integration with social media platforms for broader reach and engagement. Additionally, we aim to forge strategic partnerships with nonprofit organizations and corporate sponsors to amplify our impact and create a more inclusive and sustainable future for all.
