Inspiration

The team wanted to address the common challenge of failing to keep resolutions by creating an app that enables users to achieve goals collaboratively with friends. Vineyard was designed to make achieving resolutions fun and engaging by incorporating social and motivational elements.

What it does

Vineyard is an app that helps users set and achieve goals through group accountability and progress tracking. The app provides customizable widgets on a dashboard, shows friends’ recent activities, and has a unique "Vine" system that represents progress visually with badges, motivating users to complete tasks. Users can join groups focused on specific goals, set personalized tasks, and invite friends via deep links.

How we built it

The app’s main features include a custom dashboard, a system for creating groups with defined goals, and a deep-link-based invitation system for friends. Goals are broken down into actionable, repeatable tasks, and the app provides a visual Vine representation for tracking progress and accomplishment.

Challenges we ran into

One challenge was designing the app to be flexible enough to handle any type of goal without hardcoding specific tasks. The team also faced technical limitations during the demo, as only one device was available to show interactions between users.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

The team created a visually appealing and intuitive interface with customizable elements and implemented the Vine system, which provides positive reinforcement by showing users' progress. The friend invitation and group interaction features allow the app to focus on friend-based accountability.

What we learned

The team learned how to balance social engagement with individual goal setting, which involved creating an adaptable app that allows for unique, personal goals while still tracking group progress. They also learned to develop an app that supports broad personalization and customizability for the users.

What's next for Vineyard

Future plans for Vineyard include adding push notifications for group progress updates, enhancing the Vine system to include unique representations, and introducing personal goal adjustments within group settings. The team also plans to add a competitive mode with leaderboards to boost engagement among friends.
