Inspiration
We have seen that Visma was taking internal relationships between co-workers very seriously, which inspired us to take upon their challenge - to make a web application that makes it easier to create, share and archive various "events" that slowly shape the entire company's history over time.
What it does
It provides and intuitive environment for the internal employees of Visma to create various events and insert text and image media into them, as a way to archive and memorise the things from past, creating an unique piece of history along the way.
How we built it
We primarily used HTML5, CSS3 and JS/React, so the project is basically a website. We have chosen this approach due to its simplicity, since not all members of our team share the same operating system or working environment. Everyone has a web browser and a simple text editor though...
Challenges we ran into
The internet often kept going out, which slowed down our development by a bit, but we also faced some team management issues. We sometimes found out two people worked on the very same thing, which was clearly rather ineffective.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We have learned to work as a team and communicate more clearly our ideas between each other. We have learned how to better manage problems and share our workload around to create a more effective working environment.
What we learned
As it was said above, we have learned a lot in the team management sphere, and we are very glad for it. We have also learned a lot about web development on our journey.
What's next for Visma History
That is yet to be decided, as nobody can see the future. We would definitely like to improve the web app and see it grow. We are a bit sad that some features had to be omitted to fit into the time limits, but we also understand it's a regular occasion in events such as these.
