Inspiration

It was a rainy night when I and my team mate went for a walk only to find a stray dog trying to get a shelter. At that point we decided to start an initiative about bringing volunteers together so that they cam function effectively.

What it does

VolunteerUp matches inspired people with inspiring causes. It is how volunteers and nonprofit organizations connect with each other to achieve remarkable outcomes. It makes volunteer recruiting, quick, easy, and effective.

Suppose you spotted a dog who needs shelter but for some reason you cannot take him home. Now what will you do? We have got your back ! Our app provides a way to map out the place where the dog/any animal was spotted so that people who are in the need can visit that place. You can see this functionality in the photos attached below and the video as well !

Through our app volunteers can post their free time slots and connect to NGOs if they want.

How we built it

Languages used- HTML, CSS, Javascript Frameworks used- React.js, Node.js, Express.js APIs used- Google Maps API Database used- MongoDB Cloud Service- Google Cloud Platform

Challenges we ran into

  1. Due to time constraints we could not add the types of NGOs
  2. We could not save the data where the animal was spotted due to time constraints

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud to be the one taking a step towards this initiative of finding home and connecting volunteers.

What's next for VolunteerUp

We will be trying to get sponsors as in some NGOs and we will implement the feature of connecting various pre-existing NGOs through our app.
