Walky Doggy — Hackathon Submission

Inspiration

The idea was born from a simple video of my neighbor's elderly father. He was isolated, rarely leaving his apartment. Then his family got him a dog. Suddenly, he was out every day, smiling, talking to neighbors. His world expanded.

But I also saw the burden—the vet bills, the mess, the days he was too tired. I thought:

"What if we could capture the magic of that companionship without the barriers?"

That what if became Walky Doggy.

What it does

Walky Doggy is a mobile app that leverages the proven human–animal bond to drive real-world physical activity. Users care for a digital dog whose health and happiness are directly tied to their walking.

This creates an emotional reward loop that transforms a chore into a joyful responsibility.

How we built it

Our team collaborated across their respective expertise, and with the help of our sponsors, we brought our MVP to life.

Our functional prototype was built for speed and validation using modern tools:

  • Frontend & Hosting: Lovable
  • Backend: Bolt.New
  • Character Design: Why The Duck
  • Demo Production: Screen Studio

Challenges we ran into

Using vibecoding, the app broke multiple times, especially when integrating the map initially. Fixing one issue often created another, and sometimes credits were consumed too quickly.

Overall, we tackled all the challenges with full passion.

Accomplishments we're proud of

  • The MVP now works smoothly and faster than previous versions.
  • It faithfully represents the core idea we envisioned.

What we learned

  • Effective promotion with vibecoding
  • Problem-solving and debugging under pressure
  • Team management and collaboration
  • Displaying our vision effectively through a video story

What's next for Walky Doggy

Our roadmap expands the ecosystem into AR features and physical merchandise, creating a powerful feedback loop between the digital and physical worlds.

This isn’t just an app; it’s a platform for connected wellness.
