Wandr

Inspiration:

All of our team members have relatives who have dementia.

What it does:

Checks if a patient has left a certain specified area (eg. their home) and gives an alert.

How I built it:

Programmed in swift using xcode, use of geofencing and gps coordinates, and trulio.

Challenges I ran into:

Started working in android but switched to IOS because we had issues with developer tools on our android devices and had more experience in xcode and swift. Trulio had poorly written reference material and libraries for swift 2.0.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

Figuring out geofencing and overlaying a shape on a map to show the boundaries. Overcoming the issues with trulio to eventually get text alerts after leaving the geofence.

What I learned:

How to use xcode, android studio, swift, geofencing, and gps location, how to use trulio to send sms.

What's next for Wandr:

Option to call/text more than one family member, option to call emergency services with patient info and location, way to direct patient back home, a sister app to track patient from families phone.
