Watclub

Inspiration

When searching for clubs, we realized there wasn’t a single website that listed all Waterloo clubs. While courses had UWFlow, clubs lacked a centralized platform—so we built one.

What it does

WatClub allows users to search for any club in Waterloo, view ratings, and provide their own ratings and comments, making it easier to find clubs that match their interests.

How we built it

We used React for the frontend and a Django Python backend

Challenges we ran into

Making the website secure was a big challenge. We had to protect user data and ratings while keeping everything working smoothly, especially as more people use it.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Completing our first full-stack project and launching a platform that addresses a real need for students at Waterloo.

What we learned

We gained valuable experience in full-stack development, and collaborating effectively as a team.

What's next for Watclub

We plan to enhance the TQL model for recommendations, add detailed club profiles, and implement social features for connecting with like-minded peers.
