Inspiration
We wanted to create something relevant to the current going ons. A lot of people are into stock trading currently and we wanted to see if we could create something that would be able to help them.
What it does
It scrapes the historical stock data for stocks displayed on the yahoo finance website.
How I built it
We build it using python/beautiful soup for the back end and kivy in python for the front end.
Challenges I ran into
The challenges that we ran into were identifying how to process the raw html provided from the website, and extract the relevant data from that information.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
We are proud that we could create a webscraper that can extract certain key information from the yahoo finance website.
What I learned
We learned a lot about webscrapers and their usefulness in collecting data.
What's next for WeSrape
Expansion to more websites and variability in the data that it collects.
