Inspiration
As high school and college students, we know how intimidating it can be to enter the job market as a student. Oppur aims to simplify the process and bring the jobs to you with a swipe of the finger.
What it does
Search for internships and student job positions with a UI similar to Tinder.
How we built it
We used NextJS and Firebase, new technologies for most members. We were able to pick up Next pretty quickly because of our previous knowledge in React. Firebase was a skill possessed by the backend developer, Landon, making it the easy choice for backend.
Challenges we ran into
We ran into a bug with our database, accidently sending over 50,000 read operations in a single day, exceeding a daily quota. This prohibited us from using the database for the entire day.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are especially proud of the timeframe we were able to complete the project in. All members were busy, but were able to complete the project as a team, developing a viable product.
What we learned
Every member learned something valuable along the way. Steve bettered his skills in web development, porting his designs and imagination onto a webpage. Kevin got a greater view on full stack web development, learning how to integrate the 2. Landon learned to collaborate with teammates using github.
