Inspiration
After the recent corona/Covid-19 crisis where we saw many families in Nepal struggling to make basic needs and with no security from the government itself, we thought what if we could build a place where strangers could come together and help each other out.
What it does
Yogdan is a mobile-first crowdfunding website for Nepal. It lets anyone start a campaign and anyone on the internet can donate for the cause. We have used mobile first because a lot of people in Nepal prefer mobile over a laptop or PC.
How we built it
We used React and Scss to create the frontend of the website, Redux for state management. On the backend, we used Node/Express to create the server and MongoDB for our NoSQL database.
Challenges we ran into
We could not integrate Khalti API because apparantly their servers were down. Other than that, we had few hiccups trying to manage git merge errors.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Finshing this website is definitely one accomplishment we are proud of.
What we learned
We learned a lot about handling git merge conflicts during this hackathon. We realized effective communication is definetely the key to gettting things done quickly.
What's next for Yogdan
This is just the beginning. We will continue to improve the website and more functionality into the future. We even have plans to lunch it into production for Nepal.
