What inspired us was the frustration of often feeling alone in the design process. We craved a partner who could understand our vision, challenge our ideas, and help us iterate rapidly. This project was born from a desire to create that ideal design collaborator.
Your Design Partner is designed to be that virtual companion. We wanted to build a tool that could think, brainstorm, and provide constructive feedback, just like a human design partner would. To achieve this, we leveraged the power of Canva’s Design API to generate and manipulate design elements.
Building Your Design Partner wasn't without its challenges. Keeping the AI focused on the design task while maintaining a human-like conversation was tricky. Unexpected hurdles like a team member's absence also impacted our timeline. However, we’re proud of creating a functional prototype within such a short timeframe.
We’ve learned the immense value of structured thinking and effective collaboration in a remote setting. Moving forward, we plan to enhance the user interface for a more intuitive experience and delve deeper into AI integration to expand Your Design Partner's capabilities.
