The Zee Protector adds a new layer to the conventional vacuum cleaner robot "Dirt Bot." It allows you to integrate various new features such as camera monitoring from your phone, AI-powered intruder detection which alerts the user and shoots foam pellets at the intruder to distract them from their original intrusion plans! Through camera monitoring, you can also see your pets away from home and play with them through the built in laser.
However, our group had trouble with the integration of multiple parts to assemble the final product. This was overcome by researching file types that were compatible. Other challenges include designing the fasteners to the robot lid because of the compatibility issues, but could be fixed in future iterations.
Achievements include a collaborative ideation and initial design stage of fixing the problem of the "Dirt Bot" to transform it into a unique, multifunctional bot with home protection and pet care abilities. We were also able to learn more about designing in CAD and work together collaboratively throughout the project.
Additionally, through developing the Zee Protector, our team not only furthered our technical CAD skills when working under pressure, we also learned about effective brainstorming and idea development.
Some exciting future iterations to Zee Protector include adding audio input to its intruder detection so that it can also detect an intruder in another room of the house. We are also hopeful to improve interactive games for dogs, such as a "Fetch" machine.
