There Were Never Such Devoted Sisters!

While we set up our Christmas tree, we had White Christmas on in the background.  A few days later, we were playing in the basement and Katelyn walked up to Elyse, put her hand on her shoulder and said, "We're the Hanes sisters!"  And then proceeded to dance around singing, "Sisters, sisters!"
Image

And I love this sister act.  They are really beginning to enjoy each other's company and play together.

Last Sunday they pretended to be on a boat saving Bear from shark infested waters.  This is their boat, and the roll basket is Bear's life boat.   I love Elyse's face in this picture.  She is elated when Katelyn includes her in playtime.
Image

Which is funny/weird, because this is what usually ends up happening.  She pushes and bosses her around.
Image

This hat is Elyse's fisher-lady hat.  It doesn't fit Katelyn, but she loves to put it on Elyse.
Image

She is a sweet fisher lady!

I took this picture and then told Katelyn she looked like she was dancing like Tevye from Fiddler on the Roof.
Image

So she started dancing like Tevye on purpose.  .

"If I were a rich man....."

She is so happy and silly sometimes.   I love it

Then the rescue boat became a couch and the girls watched the Christmas Devotional and ate popcorn together.  Cute, cute, cute.

Tonight the girls were playing in the basement.  Katelyn came up in her Snow White dress and said, "I'm Snow White and Elyse is Cinderella."  Sure enough she had put her Cinderella dress on Elyse.  Elyse couldn't walk in it because it was too long, but she was happy to be involved. (Please look at her smiling face and ignore the fact that she smeared a fried egg through her hair at dinner!)

And Katelyn was so proud of herself.

I love my little princess sisters!  May their relationship continue to grow.  It is wonderful to have sisters, but even better when your sisters can be some of your best friends!

November (Yes, it is a whole month and should not be the name of a post)

It has been a busy month.  We have been having a lot of fun and getting a lot done.  So here are some picture updates.
Katelyn and Elyse went Trick-or-treating to my old boss.  She gave them these cute light-up princess glasses.  They love them and don't only drink from them, but also use them as flashlight in forts.
Image
And another sweet lady I work with gave the girls vampire mouthed suckers!
Image
Katelyn is really growing up.  She says things like, "I wouldn't like either of those," and "Dad, I've never been on a date before."  To that, he responded, "You can go on a date when you are an old woman."  She then turned excitedly to me and said, "I can go on a date when I am a big woman!"
Image
Elyse and her big blue eyes and curls.  She is getting big.  The other day, I was snuggling her after her nap.  She said, "Guess what?  I love you!"  She also every night before bed copies me and says "I lalalala love you!"  And you know what....I lalalala LOVE it!

Katelyn wanted Elyse to sit on her lap.  It last a few seconds.
Image
Elyse went to nursery for the first time this last Sunday because Devin and I both had to teach the third hour.  She did really well.  It seems like she should be too little to go to nursery:(
Image
Katelyn has taken a few sessions of a fun music class offered by a friend in our old ward.  She loves it.  I finally took my camera on the last day of class.  Here she is shaking her maracas!
Image
And her favorite part is dancing with her pink scarf.  She also loved when Becky would play Rock-a-bye baby and she could pretend to rock a baby.  It always turned into a sweet little lyrical dance.  Another highlight of class was watching Katelyn mimic Becky's every move.  If she leaned back, so would Katelyn.  If she tapped her foot, so would Katelyn.  She really enjoyed the class. Elyse even participated.  And by the end of the 7 week coarse, she was wiggling her hand like a slippery fish with the rest of them!  Thanks again Becky!

Katelyn and Elyse playing behind the curtain on afternoon.  Devin says I don't take any pictures but posed pictures.  These are in the moment!

 And a cute up-side-down girl!

 My little sweetheart.

Elyse has started putting her hands in her pockets whenever she puts on her jacket.  She just walks around muttering, "Hands, hands, hands."
Image
Cute side picture of the hands in the pockets.  And I love her loose curls.  Her hair is getting pretty thick and long.
Image
This baby bunny is named Alicia.  I am so grateful it is a normal name.  Her other baby doll is named Grilla.  And that name has stuck for a few weeks.
Image
Katelyn thinking she is pretty funny wearing dad's shoes.  She looks like a clown.
Image
And now she is a princess.  She loves to dress up and pretend, and I love to do it with her.  She even will dress up Elyse and name her a fairy or a queen.  Elyse is a very good sport and loves Katelyn's attention.

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving with our friends the Adairs.  The food was good, but the company was better.  We are so blessed.  We have our health and our wonderful family and friends.  Devin is getting a great education and my job couldn't be better.  Our girls are learning a lot and teaching us life lessons that we could only learn from being parents. But most importantly, we are grateful for the evidence of our Savior's  love in our everyday lives.  He is really mindful of us and is the true reason that we give thanks.

Happy Halloween

We have been really celebrating Halloween!  First Katelyn had a Halloween party for preschool.  She wanted her hair down her back.  She also got to wear makeup to be a princess.
Image

Elyse was so happy after I did her hair for the Trunk or Treat.  What a sweetheart!

On our way to the party.

The girls both thought looked pretty spiffy.  When I would turn around, they were all smiles!
Image
We had the Trunk or Treat at the church.  Katelyn kept asking when Santa was coming out.  I told her that it wasn't the Christmas party.  She then pointed to a kid dressed like a sorcerer with a big white beard and said "Santa!"

 Katelyn during the costume parade!

I put Elyse on the stage next to her.  Katelyn walked by a few times.  She thought everyone had come to see her.
Image
We did our traditional Halloween feast.  We had dinner in a pumpkin,
Image
 shrunken heads in apple cider,
Image
 candy filled witch's broomsticks,
Image
and spider web chip dip.  We also had bone rolls, mummy toes and graveyard cake, but I forgot to take pictures of them.  Too bad.  But it was very fun, as usual.

 Halloween is pretty fun.

Hope your Halloween is Spooktacular!
