Grammy and Grandpa Dean

After our Tanner visitors left, my parents came for a visit.  They had a little drama on their trip here.  I asked them to bring Cara's breast pump to me.  My mom thought it was embarrassing to be carrying a breast pump, so she had my dad carry it on the plane.  Not only did TSA search it when he went through security, but he was searched at random at their gate, too!  Probably more embarrassing than if mom were to be carrying it!

They stayed in a hotel close by our house.  We had a lot of fun with Grammy and Grandpa Dean.

My parent's rented an Excursion so we could all fit in one vehicle.  We drove to the serpent mounds and then stopped by the Jeffersonville Outlets. My mom, Katelyn and I shopped while the guys and Elyse stayed in the car.  Elyse was so funny.  She pretended the whole time we were gone and didn't even care that she didn't get to go shopping.

That night at Applebee's, the waitress asked us if we were all okay.  Elyse stopped her and said, "I'm not okay anymore!  I just...need some more juice!"  Guess if we won't speak up for her, she'll speak up for herself.

Grandpa Dean, Devin and Katelyn and Elyse went swimming in the hotel pool one night and then the girls had a sleepover at the hotel.  They really were excited to sleep at the "ho and tel."

Thanks for coming guys!  We loved having you here!

Tanner Family Visit

The week after Trent was born, Grandma and Grandpa Tanner and Nate came for a visit.  We had a great time with them and were so happy they came!

The girls and Devin went swimming at their hotel 2 different times.

The girls loved jumping off the ladder to Grandma and Grandpa.

We went a little day trip to see Zanesville, Ohio.  The girls were so happy to ride in the car with Grandpa and Grandma.  And to be honest, it was nice to have a quiet car ride with just Trent and Nate in our back seat!

We also went to a fun metro park, had some amazing Amish Cuisine and finally taught the Tanners how to play Rook!  Nate schooled us all;) Best of all, we got to enjoy each others' company. We had a great time with the Tanners!

Details to Remember about Trent's Birth

  • We went to the hospital 3 days before he was born with false labor.  I really wanted him to come by himself.  He didn't.
  • Shantel watched the girls and sent me pictures of them throughout the day.  She took them to the store and let them each pick me a balloon.
  • Our induction was the longest yet.  Besides things being slower because I was Strep B positive, they had to break my water twice.  I had never know that was possible.  They broke my water the first time at noon and when I was still at a 4 at 6:30 that night, they realized there was another sac of water.  I asked, "Does that mean there are twins???"  I was relieved when Trent was the only baby born 3 hours later.  I wonder if they had broken both sacs at noon if he would have been born at 3:30 instead of 9:30.
  • We watched Fringe all day on the IPAD while we waited.
  • When he was born, his lips were the first thing I noticed.  I told Devin, "He has big, red, kissy lips!"
  • His skin was so pink!
  • It was my most taxing delivery, but my easiest recovery.
  •  The nursery nurse said Trent was the longest baby she had ever seen in the nursery.
  • The girls lived in their Halloween costumes the day Trent was born.  Katelyn had 2 preschool Halloween parties and they went to the trunk or treat that evening.
  • Devin brought the girls the next morning to the hospital.  He told them, "The hospital is not a place to be wild.  Don't, run be too loud and don't climb on mommy." They did great!
  • That night, Kortney brought the girls for Devin to take home.  On the way to the hospital, Katelyn said, "Kortney, when we go and see mommy,  we can't be wild, or crazy or jump on mommy."  Kortney did great too!
  • Kortney and the girls decorated the house with welcome home signs and balloons.
