April 2025 Cool Down Week

For the rest of this week we get to ease off of the readathon high. We have those books we meant to read during the readathon, and books we realized we ought to have read but forgot about, and books we were drawn to only after we were committed to our readathon tbrs. And there are also all those unfinished books we could have finished finally during the readathon, that are still languishing. And, if we are in other reading events or activities we may have more reading stuff we have neglected during the readathon or all month.
So, make a tbr and/or a list of things you would ideally like to accomplish by the beginning of May, and for the next couple days we’ll see what we can finish by putting all our leftover readathon motivation to good use.

Another Day Another Book

We made it! Welcome to the end of the April 2025 Dewey’s Readathon. We finished yet another 24 hours of bookishness and some excellent reading. All our posts and threads and activities will remain in place on our social media, so if you are doing an extended unofficial readathon weekend, it is all there to interact as you go. I will be heading to bed, but we have several admins who did get some sleep and will be keeping an eye on things for folks still reading. And, once I get some sleep, I’ll probably resume reading. My book is not done yet after all. And there are so many more books awaiting their turn. So happy reading, everyone, and I’ll join back in for a bit more reading after my post-readathon nap. .

Apr2025 Hour 24 Reading Sprint & Survey

We’ve made it! We’ve reached the last hour-long sprint of our readathon for April 2025. Congratulations! Pick the book you wish to enjoy for your last hour of this event. Drink water, have a snack, stretch a bit, maybe jog in place a bit, and then let’s see if we can close out this reading event in great form with one last hour of solid reading.

On your marks!!! Get Set!!! Go!!!

Closing Survey

  1. How many books did you read during this readathon? Did you have any favorites?
  2. How many books did you finish?
  3. Did you accomplish your goals for this readathon?
  4. How did your snacks and meals work out? Are there things you would change about the food and beverages side of your readathon for next time?
  5. Did you enjoy this readathon? What was the most successful part of your readathon? What would you change for next time?
  6. Will you be continuing your readathon reading past the end of our official readathon?

Thanks to everyone for helping make this a successful readathon. We’ll be announcing the official date for the April 2024 readathon by the end of November, so stay tuned for that. Also, we will be doing a cool-down reading week from Sunday October 22nd through next weekend, so that we can ease back into normal life without the shock of suddenly stopping reading (as if we really would just stop anyway…)

Happy reading, everyone!

(If you have decided to finish your readathon after some sleep,, are you following along with the sprints and discussion questions on your own schedule? If so, you are welcome to reply to all the discussion questions and sprints and surveys when you reach the corresponding hours. We’ll leave all the posts and discussion threads open for a while so you can participate even after the diehards among us have gone to bed following the close of our official Hour 24.)

The challenging half of this readathon has begun to really sink in for many of us, and we are starting to waver. Here’s a great chance to regroup. Grab your book and your beverage and let’s launch into a good, solid hour long reading sprint at the top of the hour.
