7:50 pm - STUPID BITCH!
|
I got my quiz back today in CPS 542. One of my answers was marked wrong so I questioned the prof about it. I said "According to the definition you gave us my answer is right". She responded with "Well that definition isn't technically right".
She then showed an example that proved the definition was wrong and I agreed with her. But I still questioned why I was marked wrong when I used HER definition. She just responded with "Because that definition isn't technically right"
WHAT THE FUCK!?!?!? How the hell can profs give you one thing and then tell you that what they gave you isn't "technically" right when you use it to solve a problem.
THAT'S FUCKING BULLSHIT

10:30 am - A tie....and the fans lose...I don't think so....
|
I'm talking about the ending of the Baseball All Star game last night. It was called a 7-7 tie after 11 innings. Fans at the game were chanted "Let them play" and "Re-fund" when the announcement was made.
I am personally disgusted by this. Yes, it would have been nice to see somebody win this game but there were no more pitchers. Both managers had a pitcher of another team on the mound. If the game had gone 15 or 16 innings the pitchers would have been risking injury and even if they didn't get injured the team they play for during the season would have had to make adjustments. Despite what people think you need a 5 day break after throwing that much. Your arm just doesn't come back the next day.
The managers of the N.L. and A.L. were in a lose-lose situation. They get booed and ridiculed because they didn't ration their players right. But if they had rationed the players and the game ended in the normal 9 innings they would have been ridiculed because they didn't get everyone in the game. This game is meant to show off the best players of the first half and give the players, managers and coaches of the MLB a break for 3 days.
If the fans want this game to finish regardless of the length then I think there needs to be a longer break then 3 days, maybe an entire week, but then again, fans will probably whine about that too....

7:10 pm - Incubus Rocks
|
Just got back from GR. Carrie and I went to see Incubus play at Van Andel.
The show was fucking awsome. They were good at Area 51 last year, but this show just blew it away. They played mostly stuff off the new album but mixed in some good stuff from the first CD (Drive and Stellar).
About 45 minutes into the show they broke out the acoustic guitars and played part of Madonna's "Like a virgin" (fucking funny) and then they played "Mexico" and "Pardon Me". "Pardon Me" just blew me away...it was sooooo much better live and acoustic then it is on the album.
I really don't know what to say. Incubus put on an awsome show...

I was just reading on a website responses somebody had to a quiz. Some of the responses were quite amuzing and then I came across this:
Have you ever plagerized? No Have you ever copied somebody elses work? Yes
Uhm, correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the definition of plagersim copying somebody elses work and claiming it as your own?

2:37 am - disappointment
|
Just got back from seeing Star Wars Episode 2. It was a pretty good movie in the sense that more of the "story" is put together, but I was very disappointed in the movie. It just didn't live up to the Star Wars "legacy", if you will.
Maybe I just looked forward to having much more then what was there. But I think episode 3 is going to be good, maybe even the best one yet, just by where they left the story off at the end of this one.

A A- B
3.56 this semester and a 3.63 overall. Not too bad I guess. Especially the class I got a B in because I got a 56% on the final, which is MUCH worse then I thought I would get.

9:59 am - I don't know what to think...
|
So last night I get a call and the first thing the person says is "Do you know who this is?"...and after thinking for a few seconds I realize that it's Stephanie, my first girlfriend. We broke up 2 years ago and haven't talked in ATLEAST 18 months. She broke it off with me after 3 years because she "needed to find herself", or so she says.
We talked for about 20 minutes or so. It was very akward. After about the first 10 minutes I could tell what her objective was and that was not to be friends, she wants to get back together. Uhm, hello! I haven't talked to you in 18 months and after the way you treated me after we broke up, I don't think so. At this time I made it point to make sure she knew that I was dating Carrie. When I said that all she could say was "Oh..." in that very disappointed tone.
She asked me if I was glad she broke up with me. My first reaction was "I'm not really sure" but that was just me trying not to hurt her. I quickly came to my senses and said "In a way, I am very glad". If she hadn't I wouldn't have gotten to meet some of the people I have. I probably would have never gotten to meet Monica and definitely wouldn't have gotten a chance to get close to her, even if it didn't work out. I probably wouldn't have met Carrie and wouldn't have fallen in love with her like I have.
Right before we hung up Stephanie asked me if I had AOL and I told her my screenname. I then get a message that says "What's your e-mail address, I have a pic I want to show you how I've changed" She is never going to get it, she isn't going to win me back. It's been 2 years, a lot changes in 2 years. I'm not the same person I was when we dated. I'm a lot more loose and care freeing. I still have my anal tendencies, everybody does, but....I don't know how to explain it, I'm just different.
I was nice and gave her my e-mail address. I will admit she looks good in her pic and it looks like she has lost some weight (she was a little heavy set when I was dating her). That still doesn't change the way I feel about Carrie.
The next few messages go like this:
Stephanie: Is your gf there? Me: No, I don't want to get her sick (I've been sick for the past week) Stephanie: Have you had sex yet?
WHAT THE FUCK KIND OF QUESTION IS THAT???????????? I don't think that is any of her business.
I just don't know what to do. I wouldn't mind giving friendship a shot, but I just don't think that's what she wants. She is all or nothing and VERY controlling.
I have a feeling if I tried to be friends with her, she would try to ruin my relationship with Carrie and I'm not going to let that happen. Do I still care about Stephanie? yeah Do I still love her? probably, but not in the same way I used to. I still want the best for her, but I don't think I could trust her with my deepest secrets...the way I can trust Carrie.
Everything about the relationship with Carrie feels right. Her and I can sit in dead silence for what seems like hours and feel like we just had a deep conversation. It's weird, I'm not sure I've really ever connected with someone like this, even Stephanie who I dated for 3 years.
I guess the saying is true...everything does happen for a reason. I guess Carrie is the reason for Stephanie and I breaking up and what a good reason that is.

8:39 pm - Post Exam Bash...
|
Ok, well it's not really a bash, but my exams are OVER and I think this drink is the best drink I have EVER had. It's just a simple Bicardi-O and Coke but it tastes soooooo good. This has been an absolute semester from Hell and I'm soooo glad it's over.
I still have to do a demo for one of my projects on Wednesday and turn in my final CPS 650 project. Technically I have to finish the 650 project but considering that the only way I won't get a decent grade in the class regardless whether I turn the project in or not is if I get a 50% or lower on the final, I might just turn in what I have done which is about half. The final was hard as hell, but I'm pretty sure I didn't get a 50%...I don't think I got an A, but I'm pretty sure I didn't fail it.
Anyway...back to my drink...can't wait for Thursday, that's going to be a BASH :-D

5:50 pm - You know it's the end of the semester when.....
|
When everywhere you look there are empty Mountain Dew bottles You wake up and the first thing you think of is how to solve the problem you were having the night before When you wake up from a full nights sleep and you are STILL mentally drained. When your room looks like a tornado went through it (ok, so mine looks like that ALL the time). You hand in projects because "it sort of works" You can't wait for post exam bash to begin You plan on taking a day off work just so you can get WASTED and not worry about anything and finally..... ......... ........ ....... ...... ..... .... ... .. . You just don't care about any of your classes anymore.
FUCK CLASSES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

3:15 pm - I slept like a baby
|
I slept like a baby last night. Of course, I went to bed a 9 PM. I had every intention of working on my projects last night but I hadn't slept in 36 hours as of 9 PM. I sat down at my computer and had MAJOR tunnel vision. I decided to take a few hour nap and then I would get up to work. Next thing I knew it was 9 AM...ooops
On another note, I have written a computer program that shows 1 + 2 = 1. Think the professor will buy it? Damn I need to figure out why it's doing that....

2:59 pm - Today has not been a good day....
|
Ugh...I can only imagine what else could go wrong.....
9-9:50 AM -I went to class
10-11AM -Went and got something to eat
11-11:30AM -I was SUPPOSED to meet with my partner to work on a project, she never showed
12-1PM -Came home and started running my speaker wire since my rear speakers get here today
1PM-1:30PM -Decided to skip my class because the speakers weren't here yet. $500 pair of speakers isn't exactly something I want to take a chance at UPS just dropping off
1:30PM -Decide to take a look at the class sylabus and see that a test was supposed to be today. First thought "OH SHIT", but then I remembered the prof saying something about test on Friday. So I run over to Pearce to find out that it was just a normal lecture today.
2-2:30PM -Come home and continue to wait for the speakers
2:30PM -Decide to track them and find out they UPS attempted delivery at 10:45AM. WHAT THE FUCK?!?!? They didn't leave a sticky note to inform me of this, so I just skipped class for not just no good reason, no reason at all.
2:45PM -Drive to UPS and I'm livid. Walk in and start explaining very angrily that I was not left a sticky note because I wanted to use that sticky note to change the address the speakers are to be shipped to (you can do that with the stickey notes). The lady just says "Just put the address that is currently on the package and the address you want to ship to and a contact number on this paper and I will take care of it"
3:00PM -Get subway, probably the best thing so far.
UGH!!!!!!!

3:43 pm - No Decency
|
Some people have no decency. I was woken up at 6:15 AM from a cop knocking on my door. During the night, somebody driving through our parking lot, slid into my car. Now, this person had pretty good speed since they manged to slide my car into the car parked next to mine. Did they leave a note? NO. Did they call the cops? NO. My neighbor, who's car mine slid into, called the cops when he got up to go to work.
My passenger door has a dent, the back end of my car near the gas tank is completely bashed in and I have a good size dent on the driver side where my car hit the car next to it.
I think there are two possible situations. The first is what I wish to be true, the second is what I think to be true. The first is maybe the person was running late for work or maybe got a call during the night and was in a hurry and was going to fast, lost control and hit my car. Since they worry worried/hurried they just left without thinking.
The second, and probably the more reasonable, is that there was drinking involved. Maybe the driver was drunk or maybe he/she was driving some drunk friends home. We all know that drunk people can get pretty rowdy and they were just being careless. Because of alcohol being involved, they didn't want to admit to it.
It's a good think I have full coverage.
The car that mine slid into doesn't have much damage, but the wheel well was bent into the tire.
ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

2:35 pm - 3 down 3 to go
|
I started building a home stereo system. I have the DVD player, Receiver, the fronts and the center channel right now. I still have to order the rears and the sub-woofer. Judging by how loud just the center and fronts can get, I'm going to have to watch how loud I put the sub :). I'm getting all Klipsch speakers...namely, the RB-5 II, RC-3II, RS-3 II and the RSW-10 sub. It should sound pretty good when I'm all done :).
I worked 40 hours during spring break. What a spring break! My excitement was going to a Microsoft Developers conference in Livonia on Tuesday. It was a completely free conference to go to and it was pretty cool. They had drawings for some pretty cool shit. Of course I didn't win any of it, but this is what they gave away (Keep in mind, this was a completely FREE conference to go to):
1 Year Universal MSDN subscription - value: $3,000 2.2 Ghz Pentium 4, 1 GB of RAM, 64 MB video, 17" LCD monitor - value: $2,500 12 copies of Visual Studio .NET professional - value: $1000 each A copy of Windows XP professional - value: $300 XBOX with some games - value: $400 DVD Player - value: $200 A few different 5 or 6 book sets - value: $150 - $200 And then they had a bunch of other small stuff.
I was impressed with everything. They also had free pizza and beer (yes, beer, MGD Light to be exact). The pizza was probably one of the best I've ever had. Although, they had some kinds I wasn't so sure about.
Carrie gets back into town tonight. YAY! that makes me happy :).
