speed. running fast and so forgetting. as it speeds up, as technology keeps forcing us to adapt, to look at more, experience more, process more, as more information is thrown at us, it becomes harder and harder to retain. the more information you're given, the more selective you become, out of necessity. but if you choose, as some do, to try and retain as much as possible, to grab hold of as much of the information as you can, you have to restructure your mind in such a way as to alter the information to a form more conducive to storage. meaning smaller/more discrete. this is efficiency. unfortunately, the primary way of doing so is by making the information more general. by taking away as many specifics as possible, by attempting to reduce the information to its bare essentials. but in so doing, one loses much. and we often refer to the retrieval of partial information as "poor memory."
