About
What is it about?
Digital Values has set itself the goal of examining “digitization” from different perspectives. It is a commonplace that the digital transformation is having a massive impact on all areas of life. However, it seems all the more important to us to discuss this impact on business, politics and society in a fundamental and controversial way.
The focus is on the major developments, theses and challenges. We concentrate on the public sector, the media sector including art and culture, mobility and other transformation and future topics for now.
To this end, Digital Values allows different voices from business, science, politics and civil society as well as the national and international digitization scene to have their say. The aim is not to proclaim a particular point of view. Rather, Digital Values sees itself as a place for different opinions that all have one goal: to understand digitization as an opportunity for our coexistence without ignoring the major challenges it poses for all areas of life. From administration to mobility to media.
Articles published under “Editorial Board” are from various authors who wish to contribute to the mission of Digital Values, not from the site operator itself. It reflects personal opinions.
The contributions aim to provide new insights into a long-established discussion. And in each case reflect the opinions and views of the authors.
We look forward to engaging in an exchange with all interested parties.
Why was Digital Values launched?
Driven by the knowledge that digitization offers enormous opportunities, but at the same time also brings numerous challenges, Digital Values was created. It is intended to provide a platform for high-profile national and international personalities, visionaries and critics from the digital scene, business, science and civil society. To present their view of things. To question things. And to take a look into the digital future.
More than 20 years ago the American law professor Henry Perritt stated that the Internet was a powerful instrument for strengthening national and global governance. However, for some time now we have also been seeing numerous threats – despite all the undeniable advantages and great opportunities that digitization brings with it.
This is true not least with regard to global political developments. China’s rapid economic and technological expansion raises many new questions. The thesis that democracy and the safeguarding of a free society are the best guarantors of prosperity and growth is being put to the test by the People’s Republic of China, which is supported by a different view of humanity and a different worldview (“Kant versus Confucius”).
Overcoming the numerous challenges requires multilateral awareness and international cooperation. From politics, business and civil society alike.
Digital Values would like to make a small contribution to this.
