Character name: James Buchanan “Bucky” Barnes
Fandom: Marvel Cinematic Universe
Timeline: Right as he falls.
Age: Twenties
~*Magical*~ abilities and strengths: None
How would they use their abilities?: For good
Appearance: Bucky looks like Sebastian Stan! He is just shy of six feet tall, with dark brown hair and brown eyes. He has sort of a boyish look to him, and is physically fit due to being a soldier. He has a dark gaze and a high forehead, and kind of a goofy smile.
Background/Personality: Background
Bucky was born circa 1918 and most of his childhood is unknown. His family life is also unknown. Sometime during his childhood, he befriended a boy named Steve Rogers, who would become his best friend. Growing up and well into their twenties, he was sort of like an older brother figure to Steve, finding him dates and saving him from back-alley fights and the like.

During WWII, Bucky enlisted into the army and was part of the 107th infantry. Steve really wanted to go with him, but he was skinny and had a bunch of diseases and was rejected four times. Bucky was worried that Steve would get accepted, and go to war and never come back from it!! They are super cute.

Anyway, later Bucky was captured by the evil villain, some guy named Red Skull. And during the time he was serving, Steve had made it into the army and had volunteered for an experiment and was then Captain America, who is a super soldier etcetera. Anyway, while he was captured, he was tortured and it’s unknown whether or not he was given a dosage of super soldier serum (the same serum that gave Captain America and Red Skull their superpowers.) But it is known that bad things happened to him, so Steve came to save him and Red Skull tried to blow them up but they made it out of there alive.

Since Red Skull had captured the 107th squadron and Steve had freed them, he was sort of given rein to compose a group of elite soldiers known as the Howling Commandos, or Howlers. Bucky was one of these men; he was the sharpshooter/sniper/etc. Red Skull headed some awful organization known as HYDRA and the Howlers’ mission was to destroy the six or seven HYDRA bases.

On a mission to take out Arnim Zola, who was the scientist in charge of developing Red Skull’s weaponry and technology, the Howlers had to ride a zipline down onto a moving train. They’d all been in extremely dangerous situations before, and they were all prepared for the worst. When they were almost done their mission, something exploded which caused Bucky to fly out onto the side of the moving train, going up the side of a mountain. Steve reached out to grab his hand, but the metal bar Bucky was holding onto snapped off, sending Bucky flying down the abyss to what seemed to be his death.

Although Bucky is not being played from canon further to this point, it is appropriate to mention that the next Captain America movie is entitled “Winter Soldier,” which is Bucky’s title after he is rescued from the ice and brainwashed into being an enemy, basically... But it’s worth to note because they keep freezing and unfreezing him, and since he is in his 90s but in good condition (and Sebastian Stan will be reprising the role), it is somewhat safe to assume he did receive a little extra serum boost while being tortured.

Personality Bucky is a supporting character in MCU’s ‘Captain America: The First Avenger’.

James ‘Bucky’ Barnes is a good man. Loyal and honest, he is eager to do his duty to protect his country. These traits be seen through his friendship with Steve Rogers. By kneeing a bully in the balls for beating up his friend, the ‘protective’ has him butting heads with Steve about joining the army (This isn’t a back alley, Steve. It’s war!) the day he got his summons to join the 107th. The disagreement was the same-- Steve wanted to join the army, Bucky thought it best for him to remain behind and ‘do his part’ by collecting scrap metals. Through their banter before Bucky leaves, (You’re a punk.Jerk) one can see how at ease they are with each other. Much of his personality is characterized by his friendship with Steve Rogers. As shown, before Steve got the Serum, followed Bucky around with the Double Date at the Stark Expo (arranged by Bucky, as he insists that he only told the dames ‘the good stuff’ about Steve). While one can argue that, since it was Bucky’s last night out, he got the dames for his own benefit, he could have just as easily ditched Steve and went for a ‘date’ instead of a ‘double date’. While the ‘date’ didn’t go as well as planned (re: Steve and his date didn’t ‘click’ and Steve going off to the army recruitment center instead of dancing with Bucky and the girls), it was the thought that counted.

After Steve becomes Captain America, however, they switched roles, though their underlying dynamics remained the same. After being rescued by Steve from HYDRA, he was asked if he was ready to follow Captain America back out to the battlefield. His answer sums up his perspective: “Hell no. The little guy who’s too stupid to run from a fight? I’m following him.

Bucky is extremely brave and hardy... After the men were freed from capture, they voiced (perhaps jokingly) some misgivings about going back into the field. However they, including Bucky, decided without hesitation to follow Steve into war. And when faced with a building about to self-destruct, Bucky wouldn’t leave Steve behind. When tortured, he got up and tried his best to hobble his way out of the building.

Bucky has a good sense of humor, and he often jokes around with Steve. He’s very light-hearted and likes to have a good time.

He is also naturally charming, as evinced when he brings the date to Steve, having convinced his own to bring a friend on a blind date and having no trouble getting along with the fairer sex. In the bar when Steve’s love interest, Peggy, comes in, Bucky tries to hit on her and gets no response. He says about this that he feels invisible, that he feels like the roles have reversed and he’s Steve now, and that it’s a ‘terrible dream.’

Actor Sebastian Stan says that they were like brothers, and that Bucky had a hard time adjusting from being Steve’s protector to seeing a man who didn’t need that kind of role in his life anymore. But throughout the film, he is nothing but supportive, and happy for his best friend. During this arc of the story, he is very playful and friendly, and nothing if not a good pal.

For applicants considering an alternate version of a character already in game, please use this as your chance to explain the key differences between your character and the one already in play:

Have you read up on how the game works?: The guide plugin is the Flaming Ferret, but no one remembers that. And Bucky will take missions to make money, or he will charm the pants off of someone to make money, but most likely he will be partially mooching off of his bff Steve.

1st person sample:
Hey! Warn a guy before you push em!

[The video feed clicks on to show a retreating back of an alien. There was an unseen scowl. Whoever’s watching the screen-- please excuse the jostling as this one’s still extremely unused to the technology, never mind the guide. ]

This technology doesn’t look right.

[Some more seconds of confusion before the monitor finally displays a disgruntled looking Bucky. Without warning, he flips the guide again, and battle worn combat boots fill the screen. Way to go, futuristic tech! You have this one confused.]

Pretty sure that is not a secure line. Is anyone there?! Cap?! I lost contact with the Commandos. I don’t know where I am; this doesn’t look like the HYDRA base, but it doesn’t look all that friendly, either.

[The frown deepens as he reaches forward to prod the screen.]

If there’s anyone that can point me to the closest train tracks, that would be much appreciated.

3rd person sample:

For the first time in a long while-- he was Warm. Bucky woke to muscle cramps on his left hand-- not unlike the countless times he’d went to sleep with an eye open on enemy soil, which does not explain the warmth. Recent operations had all involve an excessive amount of snow. Snow in itself was fine. the Wind was the main problem. While visibility was, after all, key in their survival, the endless hiking in said conditions will make anyone run the other way. Which was fine in small doses. not so fine at the top of the mountains.

Grimacing, he set to work extracting his gun as efficiently as he knew--massaging and prying fingers off the handle-- while he scanned his surroundings-- where was the Howling Commandos? Steve? and where the Hell was ‘here’?!

Wait. He was... on a train.

The Zip line. Timing their descent just so. Being separated and-- Gunfire.

Being in a shootout does not explain why he was... here, wherever here was. This look nothing like the trai-

Bucky was on his feet before his brain finally remembered--

falling. the blur of white has he was blasted out the train-- hanging on, hanging on Steve was with him; he just needed to reach-- except, he didn’t reach in time, did he? A hand’s length away.

Dammit, Steve would be worried. Best check in as soon as possible.
