Comments

Workspace members and guests can use comments to communicate directly on projects. Users with the above roles can add and reply to comments, as well as mention each other. Moreover, they get email notifications, when new comments and replies are posted.

Arcweave's project environment, with orange arrows pointing at the Comments icon (opening the comments sidebar) and the "create new comment" icon at the bottom menu. An orange rectangle shows two comment pins in the current board, one resolved and one unresolved. A comment pin looks like the speech bubble icon. A resolved comment pin (when visible) is of a darker color than the unresolved one.

You can find your project's comments in both:

  • The board they have been created, as comment pins.
  • The comments sidebar, as a list.

Use the comments sidebar to do the following:

  • See all your comments in the comments list.
  • Set your email notifications preferences.
  • Filter the comments you want to see.
  • Mark all comments as read.

⚠️ Project visitors cannot view or create comments.

Comments sidebar

Click the Comments icon in the top-right menu to open the comments sidebar. This panel shows all project comments in a comments list and allows you to set comment display preferences.

Create comments

To create a comment:

  1. Do either of the following:
    • Right-click an empty area of the current board and select Create Comment from the menu.
    • Drag and drop the New comment icon (located at the bottom menu) onto an empty area of the board.

Arcweave's project environment. An orange arrow shows how to drag a new comment using the "new comment" icon, at the bottom menu.

  1. Type your comment.
  2. Click Post or press Ctrl/Cmd + Enter.

Creating a comment also places a comment pin on the board, marking the location of the comment thread. The comment pin has the form of a speech bubble icon.

Open comments

To open a comment and its thread (to reply, edit, or resolve the comment), do either of the following:

  • Click the comment pin in its board.
  • Click the comment in the comments list.

Arcweave's project environment. Two orange arrows point at a comment pin in the board and at the comment in the sidebar. Clicking on either opens the comment.

✅ Clicking a comment in the comments list scrolls the board to its corresponding pin and opens the comment thread.

Reply to comments

To reply to a comment:

  1. Open the comment.
  2. Click the Reply text field, next to your account photo and type your comment.
  3. Click the Reply button.

Select comments

Comment pins behave like other board entities: they can be selected and moved freely. Clicking a comment pin selects the comment and also expands the full thread of replies.

To select multiple comment pins in a board, do either of the following:

  • Hold Shift or Ctrl/Cmd and click each comment pin one by one.
  • Click and drag to draw a selection box.

Move comments

To move a comment do either of the following:

  • Drag the comment pin with your mouse.
  • Select, cut, and paste the comment elsewhere, using the shortcuts Ctrl/Cmd + X and Ctrl/Cmd + V.

Resolve comments

To mark a comment thread as resolved:

  1. Open the comment.
  2. Click the (checkmark icon) at the top right of the comment.

By default, pins of resolved threads are hidden. You can show or hide them using the settings in the comments sidebar.

Delete comments

To delete a comment, you must delete its pin. Do either of the following:

  • Select the comment pin and press Delete or Backspace.
  • Right-click the pin and select Delete from the context menu.

⚠️ Deleted comments cannot be restored with undo or History.

✅ If a comment is no longer relevant, consider resolving it instead of deleting it. Resolved comments remain in the project and can be reopened at any time.

User mentions

Users collaborating in a project can mention each other in comments.

Comment notifications

When a comment is added to a project:

  • Board: The comment's pin displays an unread comment badge (a dot indicating it hasn't been viewed).
  • Comments list: An unread comment badge also appears next to the comment.
  • Email: Workspace and project owners, editors, and commenters receive an email notification. Notifications include new comments, replies, mentions, and comment resolution updates.

To adjust comment notification settings, click the comment notifications icon at the top-left of the comment sidebar.
