Our trusted network brings you the right expertise.
The team at Drawing Change brings clarity with graphic recording, illustration, and strategic planning to help groups succeed. Drawing Change has worked in 12 countries – and across the Arctic – with clients making the world a better place for healthcare, education, governance, policy, science/climate, Indigenous self-determination and more. We’ve teamed up with the World Health Organization, UBC, the First Nations Health Authority, Dropbox, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and groups right around the corner in Vancouver, Canada. Our sweet spot is a commitment to long-term impact and deep relationships.
We give back with the Drawing Change Foundation, and we’re proud of training the next generation of graphic recorders. Together, we’re drawing change.
Hi, I’m Sam Bradd.
Sam Bradd (MEd, he/him) leads the team at Drawing Change. With 25 years of experience helping people have meaningful meetings, Sam has worked as a graphic recorder and meeting facilitator in 11 countries.
A lifelong learner, Sam has a Master’s degree in Educational Studies and is a first-generation scholar. He is a co-editor of two books, including Drawn Together Through Visual Practice recently translated into Mandarin.
He’s third-generation Italian/Scottish, lives in Vancouver, Canada (unceded Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh territories) and is dedicated to upholding respectful relationships with people and the land.
Sam’s lived experiences inform his creative and facilitation practices: listen to what’s under the surface, find glimmers of joy, uplift equity, and return to wholeness.
Weaving many perspectives together
If you ask how to become a graphic recorder, the usual advice is to either start with drawing skills and add listening, or begin with good listening and improve your drawing. Sam’s ability to listen beyond words and truly understand what people mean comes from his first career in the advocacy sector. His knack for visualizing systems helped him—and others—make sense of complex, difficult-to-explain ideas, and he launched Drawing Change in 2010.
Sam’s education experience includes:
- Masters of Educational Studies (UBC)
- Certifications in Human Systems Dynamics, and Integral Facilitation
- Mediation Fundamentals
His hobbies are gardening, weaving on a floor loom, and collecting other art hobbies.

“I’d encourage others to work with Sam because his work doesn’t just illustrate conversations; it builds understanding, connection, and real momentum for change. Working with Sam and Drawing Change was an extraordinary experience—his deep listening, keen insight, and ability to synthesize complex ideas helped bring the voices of patients, families, and providers to life in the RCCbc Personal Health Record (rPHR) project. I deeply appreciated how he captured not just the messages, but the emotions – fear, hope, hesitancy, and aspirations – ensuring they were reflected with authenticity and care.”
