Rebecca Prom 2011

ImageAs promised, pictures of the "big" event. I know they aren't much but I did get some. The first set of pictures was taken at a friend's house prior to the dance. The last shot is Sunday morning before church so post prom. Rebecca looks so grown up next to her little sisters.

Note to self, next time clear the memory card ahead of time. Plus, the pinning of the flowers could have been done outside and then the pictures would actually turn out instead of being super dark. There are a few other insights to this event....flowers do need to be ordered you really can't expect to just go get one like you go buy milk. It doesn't really work that way.

I am so thankful for people who try hard to be good parents. Rebecca's date (William) was awesome. He took care of my daughter and they had fun. What a blessing!

Maybe Time to start up again?

Well, well to my amazement time has flown by and nobody updated my blog. In an attempt to stay out of the blowing wind outside I'm choosing to write today. I thought that it wouldn't matter what I wrote since by now no one should be reading or checking. Then to my great surprise I found I have 6 followers. It is nice to know that friends are there even when you are not aware of it:) I myself use google reader, I am just barely aware of the follower thing.

Brief Heart update: seems to be doing well. I am back to running 9-15 miles a week and lifting weights 2-3 times a week. I am thankful that my ticker has decided to settle down and enjoy the ride.

This year Lindsey is in Kindergarten. She loves it! It wears her right out and she is often tired. She has loved her teacher Mrs. Heald she teaches tons of songs in addition to everything else.

We did get new family pictures (last October), so those will be the visuals for this post. Up and coming (yes, that's right I will try to write a few more times in the upcoming weeks) Rebecca has some events coming up so I will get the camera ready and make sure to post all about it.

Heart of the matter

Hearts are important. I have always known this. Growing up with my uncles having open heart surgery, my dad having several stents. Recently I have become aware that I have an aunt who has a racing heart, and has had an ablation. I thought I was in the clear watching my lipid panel, making sure I exercise, eat decently. But alas, the racing heart started happening to me. I have had an ablation and I hope all will be well at this point but it does make me nervous. I feel the need for patience and good medical care, plus blessings from heaven.

This morning as we prepared to leave for Grandma's house, we found ourselves snowed in! Will wonders never cease?? Just kidding. Daniel worked on making a snowman and my sisters and I stayed warm inside and enjoyed the snow from a distance. It really is beautiful here. Merry Christmas!!!

Our family has had an active year, as would be expected with four active children. We have a child in high school, middle school, elementary school and preschool....and we are tired. We have traveled more than previous years with trips to Carlsbad, NM, Arizona, Utah and Hawaii...the last one was just mom and dad...very nice. With band, football, basketball, track, choir, achievement days, scouts, young women’s, piano, student council and anything else the children find to sign up for, life is ensured never to be boring. We hope to find you and yours likewise happily busy and tired. Rest well, have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Love, D Ray, Melanie, Rebecca, Daniel, Alyssa and Lindsey Gifford.

HALLOWEEN BY REBECCA

bwahahahahah!!! Happy Halloween! Here are the pics.
First, I went to a Halloween dance and got decked out in my witchy best:

ImageOur sister's dressed up for the Fall Festival too. Alyssa was an elegant and regal medieval princess.

Finally, Lindsey was an Ethereal Fairy.

Labor Day at Carlsbad

Labor Day we traveled 3 hours to go see the famous Carlsbad Caverns. Very fun!! It is truly enormous. Not the best location for a photo shoot --but we did get a few decent shots. And just like you might imagine the shot of Lindsey crying is just after she backed up too far and hit her head on the rock.
