12:07 pm - Answer for question 4532.
|
Science fiction loves the idea of parallel universes -- do you? Do you find it interesting or scary to think of multiple versions of yourself and others? If you were suddenly face to face with an alternate reality version of yourself, what do you think would happen?
The September issue of Astronomy magazine has an article titled "Multiverses Science or Science Fiction?" Also, if there is just one universe that is infinite, there will also be infinite variations of everything.
Concerning the variations of me, I imagine it would be kind of like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=XBW7ysPcbT0#t=292

8:39 pm - unhappy emotions not allowed
|
I figured out a big problem with American culture. Our culture doesn't allow anyone to feel sad, or bored, or to have a bad day, to do anything that is unpleasant. We have to be happy, excited, entertained, thrilled, or pleasured, all the time; anything less is considered unacceptable.
This creates a lot of people who are miserable and who are slaves to emotion, who make decisions emotionally rather than rationally. I know this from looking at other people, and also because I have this problem myself.
This seems kind of obvious now that I've written it, but it didn't seem obvious before and it's an important point.

4:25 am - Misheard lyrics
|
There's things that you guess And things that you know There's boys that you can trust And girls that you don't
There's little things you hide And little things that you show Sometimes you think you're gonna get it But you don't, and that's just the way it goes
I swear I won't tease you, won't tell you no lies I don't need no bible, just look in my eyes I've waited so long baby, now that we're friends Every man's got his patience, and here's where my ends
I want your text I want your love I want your text I want your text
It's playing on my mind It's dancing on my soul It's taken so much time So why don't you just let me go?
I'd really like to try Oh, I'd really love to know When you tell me you're gonna regret it Then I tell you that I love you, but you still say no
I swear I won't tease you, won't tell you no lies I don't need no bible, just look in my eyes I've waited so long baby out in the cold But I can't take it much more girl, I'm losing control
I want your text I want your love I want your text I want your text, text
It's natural, it's chemical (Let's do it) It's logical, habitual (Can we do it?)
It's sensual But most of all text is something that we should do text is something for me and you
text is natural, texts is good Not everybody does it, but everybody should text is natural, texts is fun text is best when it's one on one One on one
(text) I'm not your father (text) I'm not your brother (text) Talk to your sister (text) I am a lover (text) Come on
What's your definition of dirty, baby? What do you consider pornography? Don't you know I love it 'til it hurts me baby? Don't you think it's time you had text with me?
What's your definition of dirty, baby? What do you call pornography? Don't you know I love it 'til it hurts me baby? Don't you think it's time you had text with me?
text with me text with me Have text with me Come on

6:16 pm - Answer for question 4505.
|
How do you feel about open relationships or marriages? Why do you feel that way? If you're currently in an open relationship, how is it working for you? What are the biggest issues you've had to overcome?
How often does monogamy actually work well? Does it even make sense? I think it's just something that appeals to the strong desire most people have for controlling other people.

7:38 pm - Jesus Loves Me
|
I'm becoming more and more impressed with how much Christianity really is a system of control. Just take this simple song, 'Jesus Loves Me.' This is a horrible song, and they've been teaching it to three year olds for at least as long as my father was that age, which maybe explains something about him. Of course, I probably learned it at about that age too; well shit, that explains some things about me too.
Christianity is great because if you reverse all of its ideas you have a great strategy for having a healthy understanding of reality and yourself. (I think that's a big part of what LaVey was doing.)
"Jesus loves me this I know for the Bible tells me so"
Jesus isn't capable of loving me, because he doesn't exist. Don't bother thinking about it, or getting more information, it's in the Bible kids, so it has to be true!
"little ones to him belong they are weak while he is strong"
This is the important part; this is a fundamental concept of Christianity. We're all hopeless and weak, destined to keep repeating the same sins for the rest of our fleshly lives, since God apparently was so fucking drunk when he created the world that he did a pretty screwy job of it completely fucked up, if you look at the world from a Christian perspective. And like Him we're just going to keep being addicted to drugs, alcohol, sex, science, and all kinds of other bad habits. We're going to continue being total scumbags to each other and just pathetic in general because we're incapable of pulling our heads out of our asses and reaching for something better. Or maybe it's because you keep praying to a God that doesn't exist, and who automatically forgives you of anything, rather than actually trying (because, we're hopeless after all.)
Heaven forbid (literally) I believe in myself or anyone else. I have to humble, and believe in God, He'll make up for all my deficiencies (that whole drunk thing).
Fuck all of that. I'll believe in myself. I actually exist, and I think that's only the first big advantage of several that I have over this drunken dipshit the Christians call God.
Maybe tomorrow I'll pick apart "Amazing Grace." Probably not, but you never know.

7:39 am - Answer for question 4499.
|
How much of a "planner" are you? Do you like to have everything mapped out in detail in advance, or do you just wing it most of the time? Tell us about a time you had something all planned out but it ended up going completely off the rails.
INTJ. But I recognize pretty easily when a plan is failing and I make a new plan, and this happens fairly often.

|
Do you ever have problems sleeping? What do you do in order to fall back to sleep? What sleep aid products do you find most helpful, if any?
It used to take me around an hour to fall asleep. Now I take melatonin and I use a sleep mask, it maybe takes fifteen minutes. And that's going to sleep in the afternoon, I used to go to sleep at night. Now I wake up around midnight and wander around looking for ways to quench my thirst. If I'm not well fed I have a tendency to wake up early, otherwise I sleep for eight hours and wake up around midnight without an alarm.

|
How do you feel about online dating? Do you think it is easier to meet people online, or would you rather have the experience of meeting them in person?
I have better things to do than meet people.
I tried online dating, it was a failure. I think online dating could work well. It's the dating that is the failure. I have since learned that people are insecure, selfish, irresponsible, and fake. And in our culture, men send out all the mail, while women sort through rejecting or accepting without ever taking initiative to contact men. Women, admit it, it's the truth and everyone knows it. That's not a system that is going to work, and I don't want the failure of a relationship that would be the result of meeting women that way.

1:59 pm - Yucky Marketing
|
I want to try Cinnabon rolls from the grocery store. But when I read the instructions I got totally grossed out. This sort of thing happens sometimes, the way a food is marketed turns me off. I guess I should just let it go, but I'm still just not sure I can buy these after reading that.
Instructions:
"blah blah... 2. Place rolls in pan. Spread the cinnamon topping evenly on each roll. (Shhh - this is the secret to our rolls' moist, ooey, gooey centers.) 3. Bake 24-29 minutes or until golden brown. (Caution - the delicious aroma may be intoxicating.) 4. Remove rolls immediately from cake pan and cool for at least 3 minutes before frosting. (We know the anticipation is killing you!)"

4:10 pm - Answer for question 4472.
|
What do you think is the main difference between confidence and arrogance? What exactly makes someone come across as confident in a way that you find appealing? Conversely, what makes you classify someone as arrogant rather than just confident?
Confidence is when you suggest that the Earth revolves around the sun, and you know you're right because you found a way to test your theory.
Arrogance is when you lock someone away for the rest of his life and prohibit him from saying what he believes, because you feel threatened by him and what he says and you don't have the balls to deal with reality in a more sensible fashion.

3:36 am - Dracula
|
I'm in the middle of reading Dracula (51% to be exact). aphroditemf can take some credit for this, causing me to have an interest in vampires because of her book. Also my new appreciation for goth culture; it's perfect for me, I wish I had realized that years ago, my life would have been so much easier.
Anyway as I was reading there was a sentence that popped up out of nowhere as particularly amusing:
"Holding his candle so that he could read the coffin plates, and so holding it that the sperm dropped in white patches which congealed as they touched the metal, he made assurance of Lucy’s coffin."

2:34 pm - Reminder: people are not important
|
|
I keep having to remind myself that I'm a hermit, not a total hermit, but reclusive. For several months last year I got into a mindset of being a hermit and understanding and deciding that people don't need to be important in my life. It took time and special effort, but I made progress. I keep finding that I revert back to the old habit of thinking people are important; I have to keep reminding myself that people are not important; I get angry and depressed and mentally fucked up when I forget.

7:06 pm - Answer for question 4438.
|
Do you tend to swear a lot? If so, what curse word(s) do you use the most? If you're not someone that swears a lot, do you substitute words like "shoot" or "fudge" instead?
I use the word fuck in just about every other sentence when I'm talking to myself, which is just about all the time. I enjoy it.
Oh and earlier today I coined a new term: human shit. I was going to say horse shit, which I say a lot, and there's also the commonly used word bullshit. But then I stopped and said, no it's not horse shit, it's human shit. So now I'm going to see if I can start saying human shit instead of horse or bull shit, since 99% of those time the animal that is actually to blame is human and a horse or a bull has nothing to do with it.

6:16 am - Sue if you're Circumcised
|
I was wondering what the chances are of winning a lawsuit against a doctor or hospital for being circumcised. Turns out it's already been done.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H8szj1jFCWM
Unfortunately nobody knows about this case, so it's a right that isn't being exercised. I would sue, but I feel like it's something that happened too long ago. Really, I should sue my parents too, it's quite likely that my mother or father would have told them to go ahead and circumcise me, even if they did know what they were signing and not drugged with painkillers.
I didn't realize what circumcision actually does until about twelve years ago, and I didn't realize there's a good chance to successfully sue until this morning.
No amount of money is going to replace what they cut off. But it must be stopped, and money could be used to inform people about circumcision.
Of course, since this is something that is being done to baby boys, what's the big deal? But if it was done to baby girls, OMG HORRORS!!
Maybe I'm just an angry person. Yes, maybe I am.
