The big step I talked about in my last post was me joining the Navy. I graduated bootcamp about 2 or 3 weeks ago, I'm based in Great Lakes, IL for A school, in holding momentarily, but taking this journey, one step at a time.
My last month in Texas I spent time with my chosen family , mom and dad and the last few moments with my baby Brody (my dog) who is currently with his grandpa aka my dad lol. I got to spend time with Yesi, Abi, and Ashley, we went camping at Chickasaw Reservoir in Oklahoma. I love my girls, we yapped and enjoyed our last fleeting moments together where we would all be in the same place at the same time before we all ventured into our new chapters. I got some food with my other best friend Keelan, we went out to this restaurant in Denton square and caught up on life. It's the small moments and things I will and still cherish the most.
I left May 27, bootcamp wasn't difficult, but there were times where it tested me mentally. I met some amazing people there even though we may have not graduated together they became family and a safe place. I lost 30+ lbs while being in bootcamp. Having someone tell you what to do almost every second of the day is not for the weak. I can say that with the time spent there I've grown so much and can hardly recognize who I was before in a good way. My first week there I was in holding and met some amazing people like Solomon who should be graduating in a month or less from now. Wooten and Rogers, Wooten is in RTC right now doing amazing, Rogers is here at Great Lakes with me and that's my twin frl, but she wants to leave me so bad, just kidding she just has a shorter school than I do hehe. I met Cantu and Dawson, Cantu graduated and she's doing great. Dawson should be graduating soon as well. Lucas too, she graduated as well and is here at great lakes, we stay texting hehe. We all started together, and that first week was the hardest for all of us to be away from what we knew and having petty officers scream and discipline us while hurrying up and waiting all the time. It felt like time was never ending, we couldn't lay down or go about what we wanted to do there was no free will but just waiting, listening, and do what we were told. We were in FSPC, some of us were there because we were overweight or needed help with getting our asvab scores brought up. I unfortunately didn't meet the standards to stay in FSPC. the week after I was sent to the " walking program" basically I was too big for them, then I made tape the following week on Wednesday and started my first division. 307, I had some interesting RDCS to say the least, they beat the crap out of us, but they knew what they were doing. I personally did not know how to shut the heckkk up, let me tell you, my RDC did not play about that, I met some great people during this division as well. I was really close to one female her name was Wright she doing great and in Florida currently for her a school, I miss her but I know she's doing amazing. Met Valle there too, he was cool, idk how bro did it but he never got caught talking bruh, he was a good friend and he's in Florida too lol. We had swimming our first week there which was my 3rd favorite thing I did while I was in boot camp, sad we couldn't 'do more swimming while being there. My second favorite thing to do while being there was definitely the "confidence chamber " aka the gas chamber, I say this because one thing about bootcamp is you're always sick, why I have no idea but you are and when you go through the gas camber it clears you up so well, it was the first time during bootcamp where I wasn't congested. I ended up getting asmod at the end of that week, I broke one of the top six. I was sad to leave the division I started my actual bootcamp experience with but with everything comes a lesson. I learned to shut up and you can't always help everyone and sometimes, you'll have to look out for yourself first before helping others. I got asmod into 322, the people there were great, I met Alonzo from my brother div, Rocha, Ramirez, Barajas, Lorenzo , Moffet and so many others. I did my most favorite experience of bootcamp with them which was live fire, this is where we learned how to shoot a caliber .19 weapon. Ive always had a iffy relationship with guns but after experiencing live fire it made me more comfortable with the idea of owning a gun and that its the person wielding the weapon and not the weapon that's the issue. We graduated Aug 21, we had some pretty and memorable RDCS, I will always be entirely grateful for the experience but will not be missing having to share a head ( restroom ) with 50+ females, lol.
The week of graduation my mom and my sisters came to visit. I missed them so much, while spending time with them, some events happened that weekend which led to me losing my sisters not physically but emotionally and the connection to continue our relationships. They will forever be my sisters but sometimes family isn't forever. Thankfully I have some family who lives here and I'm so entirely grateful for them and try to visit every opportunity I have.
Having graduated and now in Great lakes, having some freedom is nice, but I can't wait to experience the fleet and see what other great adventures is out there. For now, Ill be in Great Lakes for a year or two, with that being said, Chicago you'll be my home for a little while and I can't wait to see what adventures awaits for me these upcoming months.
I still pray and read my bible, I'm looking for another book to start and haven't boughten my skates yet but I will soon hehe.
This is just the start š¤ thank you Jesus for everything I have and all I will continue to learn and grow from. All glory to our heavenly father!
