Dec. 29th, 2016 10:44 pmname: Cynthia
age: 22
profession: Assassin
height/weight: 5'7"; 150lbs.
personality: Trained to be an assassin since a young age, Cynthia is lethal, clever, and agile in more ways than one. It's easy to assume that she lives for the fight and kill, and takes pleasure in it. She's grown up in a violent world with violent people with high expectations of who she has to be and what she should do.
It would also be foolish to assume that. As much as she enjoys fighting, what sets her apart from her assassin peers is one thing: humanity. Never once does she enjoy the kills she has to take. Underneath a hardened exterior, underneath the armor she's built up around her heart, she truly cares about people. She craves bonds with people; platonic, most specifically. Romance is a little trickier: she has a very clear perception of herself, one that's resulted in her believing she's unworthy of romantic love. She's largely an unhappy young woman; she has her hobbies and pleasures, but those work only in the short-term.
Therefore, she pushes people away. It's an interesting clash of desires and beliefs: she wants to get close to people, but is afraid to. For someone trained to be a cold-blooded killer, she's strikingly afraid of taking that leap of faith. She trusts only herself, because she is aware that the only person who won't hurt her is herself. It's sad, in a way: she craves closeness, but is equally afraid of it. She isn't quite sure how to deal with her own emotions. Her temper is most notable. Try as she might to control it, she has quite the hair-trigger temper, set off much easier when she's exhausted or stressed. and when she's angry, she gets scary-strong... to the point where all the training in the world could not stop her.
Her sense of justice is strong, unwavering, and she herself is aware of that. Sometimes, it's too strong; she's not a fool, but she's also only human. She's capable of being tricked, if only by the most outwardly earnest of individuals. This is especially possible when she feels strongly about something--innocent lives at stake, especially.
But she doesn't throw away her training. Rather, she uses it against those who would hurt others. Her mentors, her family--they want what's best for them and their desires, and not once has she ever agreed with them. She realized from a young age that such thinking was wrong, and she resolved to not fall into that line of thinking. While she's become dangerously close--no one is perfect, after all, especially not a young assassin with stars in her eyes--she's always managed to pull herself back. Again, she depends only on herself--who knows her better than her own self?
There's a reluctance to take credit for the things she's done, the lives she's changed for the better. Fighting is easy, but accepting gratitude is the hardest thing she's ever done. It's not impossible, but it takes a ridiculous amount of prodding and convincing. And while she's stubborn and volatile, she's not entirely inflexible. Her heart is in the right place. There's a soft, quiet kindness she displays only to those she trusts the most. There's a fire beneath the chill, a warmth that comes out only when she chooses to be vulnerable.
And so she displays an unwavering loyalty to those she trusts. Loyalty and a low sense of worth is a dangerous combination, when she's found people she likes and trusts. She'd throw away her own life if it meant she could protect someone... but she's not that foolish. She knows very well that if she died, then her work will have been for nothing. And if she dies... then the people who depend on her will have no one to depend on.
