After being an instructional coach in international schools for over 15 years, I’ve spent the last decade supporting coaches and school leaders in developing a thriving coaching culture in their unique school setting.
In that process, I’ve learned that it takes more than just hiring coaches to make coaching successful. Both coaches and their school leaders need to be intentional and strategic in developing a coaching culture that is sustainable over time.
Instructional coaching programs that Thrive have three core elements: Clarity, Consistency and Community. That’s what we work through inside The Coach Certificate and Mentorship Program, so you’re developing your coaching practice while you’re building a sustainable coaching culture at the same time!

For one the content the way it’s organized, you can’t get that anywhere. Everything that is provided was useful for growing.
Going through the coaching cycle and then having people in the cohort to talk about it with was so impactful. To have the option to meet with my mentor when I needed to or when something was urgent. The group calls were major.
Overall, I’m so appreciative of Kim and the other mentors for really never being judgemental. You know that we’re all on our own journey and you were able to very easily differentiate for us and things were really clear. On the global cohort calls I could see you model coaching, as I’m doing it and practicing it myself.
I can’t say enough about it. It’s more than 5 stars, it’s 10 stars.

In The Coach you will develop your coaching practice and program through the Thrive Model.
With clarity comes purpose. When we are clear on what the expectations are, we can implement the work, and then evaluate the results.
Consistency clarifies expectations. When you are able to implement coaching with consistency, you can demonstrate to teachers why they might want to opt-in to coaching with you.
Community grows culture. When coaches can begin to develop connections between teachers, to build capacity within the staff, they will build the foundations for a coaching culture.

The Coach not the typical course where you read a bunch of resources and complete assignments. With The Coach, yes, you have access to great resources, but YOU decide how to apply what you learn in your own practice, and reflect on the application and what you’ve learned in the process. The Coach is also way more than all of that. The true value of The Coach is the connection with others. By being a part of a cohort of dedicated learners and having a mentor to guide us along the way, we are able to learn and experience more. We share our experiences, our perspectives, our learning journeys, and our ideas. We support and encourage each other to get the most out of the course.

The Coach gives you the structure to build a great foundation and coaching system, right in your own school. It has pushed my thinking and gave me a plethora of resources to have conversations with my administrators and teachers. And even though not directly, it’s made me a better teacher with my students.

One of our most popular mini courses (designed to take 3-5 hours to complete) will give you a quick peek at what learning inside the Coach will look like. Plus this course is NOT included in the Coach Microcredential so you’re getting extra content even if you decide to purchase the full Microcredential after!

The format of a great professional learning experience was laid out clearly. The emphasis on participants doing most of the talking and exploring was an important reminder. I will certainly take this back to my sessions.

One of the things I love most about the program is the personalized mentorship that, I’ve gotten from Kim. It’s been really great to have that one-on-one, touch point of someone who has great insights and experience, but is also a great coach herself. just to walk through, some of my thinking and some of the experiences that I’m having and connecting the coursework to, my actual day to day, reality has been really, really rewarding.
My mentor Diana has been with me every step of the way, and she has worked with me to create a program that’s meaningful to me. And, that’s, that’s really important. The mentors will work with you to make a program that will meet your needs.
Even if I didn’t want to continue on with becoming an official coach, all the skills that I learned are super valuable with just working with teams and working with other people. Regardless of what you want to do with it, it’s going to be for you as an educator.
I also really just like that you can really make it what you want it to be. There’s so many different opportunities for what you can create throughout the course. The format of the whole program is very open and I really liked that. There are people in the program that have been coaches for years or that they’re administrators or people like me that are just getting started. So it’s really built for anybody anywhere along this journey. So I would say do it.
If you’re a person that really loves supporting others and seeing people grow and sharing resources, this is for you because you can probably build off of what you’re already doing and make a bigger impact. You don’t always wanna be giving advice and sharing your expertise, but really trying to help other people become more independent in doing that work. Regardless of what you want to do with it, [The Coach] would make a big impact.
I would highly recommend taking the coach year-long certificate program to anyone who is interested in coaching, who is currently a coach or transitioning into that period.
Or even if you are a classroom teacher like myself, who would like to use coaching strategies with students and colleagues, the way the course is designed allows you to choose your level, making it easy to fit with your current role.
I feel very successful in my first year, and the work I’ve done this year, has also helped our more experienced coaches re-focus back on those essential foundations..
Even coaches that I work with that have been doing this for a number of years, hearing the things that we’re doing, it’s bringing them back into what the most important thing is and what we really need to focus on to be as effective as we can for everybody in our district. So The Coach is not just helping me, it’s helping the team refocus and set a path ahead of us.
I thought selfishly going into this that I was gonna be just helping myself (and I did), but being on a team of six coaches, I didn’t realize that going through a course and the learning that I do could impact all the other coaches on my team, that was a nice surprise.
I’ve got so much out of the program. One thing is the importance of having systems. I have been trained as a coach for quite a long time, but my systems weren’t great. The way that you are so intentional about systems and the documentation. Learning to systemize the way I was working. So that was, that was one piece.
Another thing is leadership, coaches thinking about themselves as a leader. It made me consider how I am being intentional about who am I working as a coach (alongside my curriculum coordinator role).
Being intentional about when I am operating as curriculum coordinator vs when I am operating as an instructional coach will be critical.
[Kim has] been brilliant with me [as a mentor] because I started the program saying I was going to do 20 coaching cycles, and you helped me recognize what was more achievable. Knowing the scale that I can work with was so important.

I think Kim and the creators at Eduro are mindreaders. Somehow they have managed to figure out exactly what I need and when I need it. They have managed to put articles in that are applicable to exactly what I’m dealing with at the time at school, or they provide me the motivation to continue to keep moving whenever I need that motivation the guidance. Not only through Kim, but working with the other members of the micro-credential and hearing their thoughts. It lets me know that I’m not alone in what I’m doing.
I really like how the program can be tailored to fit your needs. And I really see that the biggest priority on Eduro Learning’s end is to maximize what we get out of the course. So if it’s not necessarily relevant at this time where you are well, then let’s change it so that, so that it can work for you. It’s a wonderful program. If I were to give any piece of advice or message to future cohort members, it is to take the course. If you are on the fence, please take it.
