Well, guys... it's finally happened.  LJ broke the ability to mirror posts from DW.  And as this is just the last in a long line of shady shit LJ has done over the years to prove they don't play well with others, I think I'm well and truly done.  I DO want to start using my journals more, but I'm not going to manually copy/paste each entry from DW to here.  That's just... I'm sorry, but that's stupid.

And since I don't seem to be getting consistent email notifications from LJ anymore, either, if you're trying to reach me here, you probably won't.

OK, I know it’s stupid late to be posting a fic snippet, and it's been a very long time since I've posted fic from this blog, but I need to do something to make myself feel better and tumblr is... let's just say I'm not trusting them to protect my stuff at the moment, so here we are.  Hopefully people will find it?  

This snippet takes place during the last chapters of “Ten Years Later” and will eventually follow the Iron Triangle as they recover from that separation.  Enjoy?  ^_^  (And yes, the below gif is mine; I did not repost it.  I’m just... hopefully temporarily locked out of my main blog. :P)



"What will you do?  When this is all over?"

Pangzi turned his head, catching just a glimpse of the man sitting beside him.  Pangzi didn't need more than that to know that he had his attention.  "Will you go back to the life you knew before? Always chasing the next tomb, the next mystery?"  He bumped their shoulders together.  "Or do you think you'll be ready to try something new?"

"Something new…?"

Pangzi nodded.  "He's going to need time when he comes out. Time to readjust.  To remember what it's like to be human and not… whatever it is that he became…"

"Behind the doors."

A soft sigh.  "Yeah.  We can't expect him to just pick up and go haring off into tombs with us again without missing a beat.  Even he may not bounce back from 10 years of solitary confinement so quickly.  So what will you do?  Leave him somewhere to work it out for himself while you go off having adventures?  Or…"

The barest quirk of lips gave him away long before the words emerged.  "Or try something new."

A quiet laugh followed those words—breathless, almost mirthless—but it cheered Pangzi to hear it just the same. It had been a long time since he'd heard his friend laugh, seen him smile.  The journey up the mountain had taken its toll on all of them, even him.  Pangzi nudged his shoulder again.  "Well?"

A deep breath, only slowly released, and with it, much of the tension in that lithe frame eased.  That tiny quirk of a smile widened, just a hint, just enough.  "Would it be premature to retire at my age?"

And now... for my 2020 year end word count meme! I... don't imagine it will change much in the next 2 days, so I'm going to go ahead and post it now.

So, exciting things in the spreadsheet this year... I WROTE THINGS. Seriously, guys, this is the best year I've had in terms of word count in a very long time. (Like... 7 years ago kind of long time.) Who knew that this clusterfuck of a year would be the year that got me writing again? XD ...then again, I'm not wasting all my energy on commuting to work and dealing with BEING at work and I'm free to use my downtime at home however I choose. Combine that with finally falling into a new muse fandom? It was a match made in quarantine hell. ;D

Even though I've sort of moved on to other fandoms at this point, I really have to thank The Untamed for that. It was exactly the fandom I needed at exactly the time I needed it, and I made some amazing friends who were very encouraging, too. I'm still kind of... half-in the fandom, and I have some other stories that I would really like to finish for it, so I haven't left it entirely, but that's the fandom that got me going again and it will forever have a special place in my heart.

I never did the year end word count meme for 2013, which is a SHAME because apparently I wrote a metric fuckton.  XD  So, with <lj-user=zoicite>'s encouragement, I went back and did it retroactively... to the best of my ability.  It may not be wholly accurate (especially as regards all the WiPs), but it's as close as I can get.

Things of note: LOTS of porn.  WOW I wrote a lot of smut that year.  XD  Also wrote way more Being Human UK fic than I thought that year.  This was ALSO the year that I wrote the bulk of FYFM and I really can't believe I let THAT one get by me without doing the year end word count.  To date, that's still my longest fic... and it's still a WiP.  O_O
